2022 update - Z1ggy16's 2020 WITB - *REALLY* PIC HEAVY!!

Recommended Posts

Here's the new weapon built up. 44.75'', D3.5, head weight 198g (with out adapter). Went heavier and stiffer with the shaft, too. This build is meant to try and see if I can get a little bit better dispersion and stop my hooky miss. If I like the head but the shaft feels a little too much, I'll probably try to sell a few other things and splurge for a Ventus Blue 6x.

The SIM Max is a BULLET machine and feels super forgiving unless you basically miss the face (I may have tested that out....). Still not 100% sold because my launch is still a touch low, so I might be looking for a 10.5* regular SIM. The 475 M5 feels surprisingly smooth and not overly heavy so I might hang on to that for now but I'm toying with the idea of getting a Ventus Blue 6x.

I'll be posting updates if I get any new stuff! Thx all.

To anybody who follows - I've got a lot of stuff coming in this week and next. I'm kind of going borderline bananas with purchases in the desperate attempt to lock it down by July. Here's what's coming and what I'll be posting pics and updates on:Driver:

Accra 465 M4 shaft - Sent this to a guy I know to pull the old Callaway tip. I'll be getting that back soon, tipping it some (1/2 or 3/4'') and putting a TM adapter back on to use in the SIM.

Cobra Speedzone Xtreme, 9*, w/ HZRDUS Smoke Black 75 6.5, Tour length5w:

Sim Ti head (going to plug my Diamana 80x into it)

Speedzone w/ Tensei AV 75x"Driving Irons":

In quotes because these aren't your typical UDI. After seeing Ricky have a great round yesterday and use the SGI iron off the tee... it got me thinking: Why pay $250 for a "special" club when something like a Cobra F9, etc is basically just a cast version of that for 50% of the price. So in that vein, I bought a 19* and 21* Speedzone irons, both bent 1* weak and 1* flat. I'm looking to have clubs that I can hit off the tee in that 210-230 range to get myself into good positions and have good control over. The 4i will come with modus 105x and the 5i gets a 120x. Misc. Gear:

Full set of Arccos V2 sensors. After seeing what the Arccos software can offer, I couldn't resist. Will be interesting to see where my game really lacks, and what kind of strategies work best for my game (bomb & gouge vs conservative & controlled).

TP5 Pix 2.0 box of balls. Seeing if it can spin as much as my BXS off my irons and wedges but fly through the wind a little more. My BXS gets killed by head winds, even when I flight them down a bit.

Surprisingly... the new SIM Ti head looks bigger than the old M1 head. My guess is it will spin and launch a bit more and be a bit more forgiving. Just what I wanted.

Not that this is any kind of blog, but I am playing tomorrow so I'll give a bit of feedback to anybody who reads these on how the SIM feels and my thoughts on the new ball and the Arccos system. I haven't gotten a shipment notice from Cobra yet but it says it may take up to 2 weeks for anything "custom".

  • 2 weeks later...

I ordered the irons to match the lengths of my P760s. Keep in mind though, the 4i is a 3i loft. So, I ordered both irons 1* weak (4i is 20*, 5i is 22*) and to be 1/4'' short. Modus 120x in the 5i, and Modus 105x in the 4i. As far as the feel... honestly they are exactly what you'd expect, but not in a bad way; Every strike feels really good, it's almost impossible to tell where you struck the ball.. .but they are not clicky and honestly feel really nice on center hits. They don't feel super "hot" and springy like the old M2 irons did, but the ball still does seem to jump off the face.

For the driver, it's also very forgiving. I was watching most of the ball high on the face and the launch didn't seem to go through the roof. A hit a few on the toe and the ball didn't hook like crazy, although I did hit 1 ball pretty high up on the heel and that did cut really bad, would have been out of play on course. That's on me though... any club would have been a bad result.

The 5w was also really good. It felt quite different than the F8 I had 2 years ago. Granted... This was with range balls, but the sound was a bit more "firm" feeling, if that's a thing. I just remember the F8 feeling/sounding very soft/muted, whereas the SZ is a bit louder. I'm just glad it launches and spins the ball a lot more than my SIM Ti.

Great updates. Once you've had some more experience with the SZ irons I'd be interested to know if you could have opted for the 120x in the 4 iron, or you think the 105x is a good option, mainly around swing weight. My preference is the Modus 120 in the 4 iron but don't want to be wielding Thor's Hammer given their length. The Xtreme driver has also been really well received.

Yeah I think the 120x would have been a little too much at 39''. I've tried it before in a P790 and it was just a bit too much weight for me. Generally, I like heavier shafts but I start to notice, especially on really hot days (even more so if I'm already a bit tired) the extra weight becomes a chore.

So the Cobra 5w is incredible... Going right into the bag. Hits it very high and very straight. Not sold yet on the irons...Not sure if just a bad shaft choice but I didn't hit them well. Only hit the driver once and it was pretty good. Makes a higher pitched noise than I thought it would make... Definitely like how the SIM feels/sounds but the result was really good.
