Your favorite four UK or Ireland pics - "the" favorites!

It was weird. There were actual thunderstorms in the area, so it wasn't just a rain issue, and the caddies couldn't believe they were calling play for the day (it was later in the afternoon so I'm sure a different result had it been in the morning) but they were darn serious about it. As it turned out, we never did get anything more that would have been a problem but it things looked bad on the radar and safety first.

I edited my post from yesterday. I checked my email from the club and we were refunded 1/2 of our green fees - we had played the front nine, and gotten a good start on the back. Those that didn't complete the front nine received full refunds. So my mistake there.

Anyway, it was a good gesture on the part of the club and unexpected.

First golf trip my wife and I took together after she took up the game back on 2016. This is Roxburghe Golf Club in Kelso south of Edinburgh. This was her favorite hole on the course and the first time she had that WOW factor while standing on a golf course.

My wife and I joined a club together in early 2017. Later in that year we had made many friends and went on our first golf trip with other people in late 2017 to Celtic Manor. We played all three courses but the 2020 course was the highlight and the first big course we visited together.

1 week before the corona lockdown was implemented in the UK our head pro, 2 friends and myself played 36 holes at Woburn. I had never played the Marquis before so was super excited and this hole in particular was one I was looking forward too. If any cares I took the left route.

This photo of my daughter and I was taken at last years AIG Women's British Open at the Marquis course, Woburn. This was my daughters first time attending a golf event and seems to have been the moment that cemented her interest in golf. She's dipped in and out her whole childhood as I've always played but last year she started getting more serious and attending this event seems to have truly stoked the fires of passion. Since then she has obtained an official handicap of 54 at our course playing from the 5582 yard red tees. The previous photo of the 7th was taken for her benefit as it was her favorite hole and now hangs on her room to be replaced by her own photo when she plays there.

I know its a 5th photo but it's too important to me to not include. Last year I was fortunate enough to be invited to an Adidas event celebrating 25 years of sponsorship with Sergio Garcia. I arrived at Wentworth very early (M25 traffic is horrible) and decided to have breakfast. While eating I saw Gary Player walking by on his own. Naturally I jumped up to say hello and do all the things you would when in the presence of a legend. I offered him a seat at our table thinking I would be polite however he accepted and spent ten minutes telling stories before excusing himself as his company had arrived. Truly an incredible moment. My only disappointment is when checking the photo taken by a passer by afterwards I noticed its a little blurry.

Ha! It's good fun and in that 'next-tier' of courses after the big boys. The secretary, was super accommodating. I emailed them just before my flight left SFO about playing the following day. When I landed I had a reply saying, sure not prob, due to a bit of a delay I pinged him to say I was still coming 'round if I can, and he was there to greet me when I arrived. The way the teeboxes are set up relative to the slightly offset fairways is really neat. For what I felt was a decent driving day, combined with the really springy turf, I had a bunch bound off the fairway. Lots of interesting movement in the greens too. Definitely worth being on your list :-)

Being next door to McLaren is kind of a cool apropos of nothing bit of trivia too.

LOVE that sign at Westward Ho! I actually had a logo file made of it and have had it embroidered on a couple bags and a few headcovers. Not sure when you were last there but there was 2 of those signs but the larger one got lost to the sea a year or 2 ago during a particularly bad storm.

Anyone is always welcome for a round with me at my home course whenever you guys come to visit North West England. It only costs £15 with a member. It's not a Top 100 UK course by any stretch, Top 20 in Lancashire behind the likes of Royal Birkdale et al , but it's a Dr MacKenzie designed course on the West Pennine Moors with views across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, North Wales, Merseyside and Lancashire. The greens staff do an incredible job with their resources and the greens are easily the best in the local area. https://www.boltonoldlinks.com/index.html

A view up our 6th hole. Straight uphill, par 5, always into the wind. Par is often a good score.
