Titleist Irons

I may be switching
After several years I may be switching from Kasco's staff to Titleist. I have not tried any of their irons, and I am looking for some advice or feedback from some of you who have. I will tell you that my all time favorite irons are either Mizuno Mp 14's or Bridgestone J weapons.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. ZAch

You won't go wrong with the 735cm's.

Since the 690's are retireing, I would think about the 660's, the 695mb's, or see if you can still get the 670's.

I'm sure that you will be happy with more than one of these sets. Just make sure that it fits your eye and confidence. In the end, that is all that really matters with the heads. They are ALL good now!!!!

I just added a set of 690.MB's to my bag. I've got the 690.CB's, and thought it would be cool to use the .CB's from 3i-6i, and the .MB's from 7-PW. I took the .MB's to the range on Saturay, and was hitting them for the first time - and loving them. I may only use the 3 and 4 iron from the .CB's.

There was something different about how the ball jumps off the face of the .MB's vs. the .CB's, I can't describe it, but it seemed to have a little more ball speed. Possibly my imagination, but it seemed like they had a little more hop.

I like the 690.CB. Some of the best cavity backs around.

690.MB's got me through my college career, but I am moving on now to bigger better things.....If you're a high ball hitter, go with the 670's...more bounce will help you control all that spin you're exerting on the golf ball.

And from one Wisconsinite to another....get a bratwurst and drink a beer for me buddy!

Yes, the 690.MB's are being replaced in the spring with the 695.MB. Pretty cool design too, with a little more of a "swoopy" muscle back design, not just a straight line like the current models.

If ia m not mistaken the Mizuno mp-14's are narrow soled sharp leading edged irons designed for pickers, For this reason I voted 680.

I am not sure what the company mantra was back then, but the MP-14's worked much better for a hefty divot taker, wheras the Mp-29 worked well for a picker.

Like a previous post - bide your time until March next year when the 695MB and 695CB will come into the range, or perhaps the 660 blades if they are actually launched.

Have tried the 735.CMs but they don't appear to be anything special IMO. Titleist Forged sets never really feel as soft and responsive as Mizunos. Then again can only comment on retails as opposed to tour forged sets - tour stuff is a non starter in the UK - we'd just be happy to have the full USA Titleist iron range available in retail, as opposed to selected sets.

Thanks for the help guys. It looks like the 735's are pretty popular. I'll have to hit a few of DM's, and give them a try.

First of all: if you like Mizuno-blades and you decide to play 690s you have got to go for the 690.CB or the 690.MB. The Chrome layer is thinner on those which will make them feell softer at impact than the 690MB or CB!

If you like a traditional blade with which you can work the ball you should not rush your decision and wait for the 695.MBs to come out.....................................

I've had my 670's for 7 months now and they just ooze confidence with a great ball flight. However will be looking at the 695 MB's and 660 very very soon!

I have changed my original vote, i think you must wait for the arrival of the new 695 line, they look incredible.

And will this result in your changing of your username to TitleistPro, i so like the sound of that much better. LOL.

Couldnt agree with you more JR

Don't think you could go wrong with either the 690.CB's or the 735CM's. Both are excellent choices.

Your gonna have to change to name to "TitleistPro" :drinks: :dntknw:

Why would you switch to out of date irons (other than the 735.CM) unless you could get them for $399 brand new. Otherwise as others have said wait for the 660s, and 695s. Because of the black plugs they won't have the rattling problems that the 680, 670, 695, 681, Ts all had with either wood or plastic dowels coming loose in the shafts. Never had any of those sets that didn't have at least one rattler in the bunch. Hasn't been a problem with my 735s.
