I have a 51" Taylormade Rossa Raylor Sport-7. I am actually working on getting back to a short putter, so right now it is it the corner.

I have had in the past the following:

A. Odyssey 2-Ball (Gone)

B. Positive Putter - had 2 of them, one had a set screw to take apart for travel (Gone)

C. Ping B-90 - I hated it (Gone)

D. Malty - I made it and never used it (still have it)

The TM is by far the best feeling long putter I have had, or tried. I tried a few Camerons on the putting green and never really cared for them.

I have an Odyssey Two Ball, Ping Craz-E, Bettinardi and Cameron Futura all 48" in length. I have never been a good putter for a low handicap and former college player (tend to focus too much on my stroke and not enough on getting the ball in the hole) and I started experimenting with the long putter about 6 years ago. The main reason that I use it is that it allows me to forget about mechanics and just read it and roll it. I normally have the Futura long in my bag as I think this is the best feeling long putter I have tried. I also do go back to the short putter on occasion if I get in a funk with the long putter.

I only had good results with the Ping B90 isopur insert at 48 inches. Over the years I have owned several of them and the last on is on our BST now. Going back to a short putter..........for now.

The PING B90 is a good one to start with. Simple to look at, a good

weight, and they can be found relatively cheap. I currently us a Red X

long, a Futura Long, ir a Slighter that I gad made for me. Give it lots

of practice time before you try it on the course. The Long putter gave

me the chance to enjoy the game again. I now believe that I have a

decent chance on short putts. Good Luck!

I have two Scottys, both at 46inches. I have the original Big Sur in a Pro Platinum finish, centered shafted and a stainless big sur, heel shafted. I've been using the long putter for the last four years and it has made the game more enjoyable. Good luck!

I have the Mac Bobby Grace M14K at 48". Took me a season to get the length right because at 6'3" I should be at 50-51" inches. However I found myself more stable with a little crouch and it was easier with the slightly shorter putter to extend my right arm down the shaft. People do not believe it given the size of the clubhead, but I do love the feel. It transmits a sense of where I hit the ball on the face better than any short putter I ever had.

I have a Bettinardi Baby Ben BHB9 in both long and belly lengths It seems to do everything a long putter should and is extra cool because it is a Bettinardi.

;)

That said, I just can't bring myself to use either on the course. The improvement isn't enough to overcome the dag factor, much like the new square drivers I'm afraid.

48 inch Pinfire Liberty- best long putter ever. I have been using long putters for 10 years and by far the Liberty has the best weight, lie angle and feel. This putter is also easy to line up.

Very cool looking concept! I like the adjustable weights idea. I have one of the

long Bobby Grace putters really liked the adjustable weights in that one.

I have been using a 50" Pole Kat by DivnickGolf for the past two years. It is well balanced and easy to line up. I thought I would have trouble with long putts, but that hasn't been the case. I am lagging better than ever, and don't fear the 3 to 5 footers any more. A bonus is that it has a telescopic shaft so I can travel with it. It doesn't make sense to me to get used to a chest putter, then take a short traditional putter when traveling. So this works great. These are the same people that make the "Whole-In-One Adjustable Club" that has a transmission in the head that can be set on every loft in a full bag. So they know what they are doing.

I've had and tried them all. When I finally settled on one model, I had about 10 to sell off! The light came on for me when I went to the Reeso putter website and saw his fitting guide. According to his guide, I need a long putter about 53 inches (I'm 6'4"). It completely changed the game. I struggled with distance control with the long putter for years until I lengthened it and now I'm better with distance than with a short putter. As I said, I've had them all but I like the heel shafted models. The two that I've liked the best are the Odyssey XG7 and the Kombi heel shafted model. I also liked the 2 ball but it looks closed at set up for me. I never could get used to it. I tried all the center shafted models (Big Sur, Rife, Bettinardi, Ping) but I always seem to push the ball right with the center shafted models.

I eventually settled on the XG7 and then went to a local clubfitter and put it on video. We adjusted the loft and lie until it was correct and it has been heaven for me. I've never made more putts and I love it.

I have always been a putter ho and still check the classifieds regularly but right now I'm very settled on the XG7.

My advice to anyone buying one is to go to the fitting guide on Reeso and make sure it is the correct length. Then figure out whether you like center shafted or heel. Also give it some time and don't give up after one round. Put it in the bag for awhile and you will see improvement.

It has been great because I love to practice my putting but have a terrible back. I was always in pain and couldn't play much back to back. But after switching to the stack and tilt and a long putter, no more back problems.

Good luck with your search.

Me too, I can't practice with a short putter because of arthritis in my lower back, also, I've become a little twitchy. The long putter helps a lot of folks extend their golfing lives...

47" Cameron KOMBI for me.

All good points, Dawg and Kev. In my experience, I saw HUGE gains with the short putter when I went back after my long putter experiment. No manipulation, no "hit", no twitchy...just a vision in my head of Stricker and Loren Roberts. If my back becomes any kind of a real issue at my young-ish age, I'm reverting to the long guy for life.

Me too. I actually have several of Gene Nead's putters including the first completely handmade blade that he created last year. I used it back in the fall and putted great. I couldn't get out of the bed the next day. It sucks. I have even extended some of my regular putters to 37 inches to try and get comfortable with them. Now, I'm doing so sell with the long putter that I may never go back.

I have been playing a 43" Heavy B1 putter. I anchor it right at my diaphragm. Its kind of a nice height where I can play it with both with a belly and long putter grip. I do agree with KevCarter, in that if you go back to a short putter the belly really helps smooth out the stroke.

For those of us who are short putter challenged, what long putter do you use and what length is it?

Thanks

I putt with my stf putter 99.9% of the time but I have a 48" Browning I use sometimes for fun. It is a super head and these are hard to find. If I were getting a new one it would be a Oddysey XG7
