How far do you hit your 3 Hybrid?

LouLogsdon

Recommended Posts

I hit my 20* original idea pro about 225-235 depending if its off the deck or off the tee. I also hit it about 30-90 feet sometimes, when i am chipping from the collar.

OP, you "only" hit your three wood 250? I wish I had something I could only hit 250. Not that it is relevant to you, but my 3 hybrid is in the 180-190 range.
haha. well i think 250 is great for a 3 wood. i said "only 250" because I hit my 3 hybrid almost as far.

sometimes that happens. I have a Titleist 913H 19* that I can move to around 245 or so when well struck. As a result, I carry a 13.5 degree 3 wood. I very rarely use my 3 wood from the fairway. If I am going after a par-5 in two and I am more than 240 yards out still, it's not worth the risk in my opinion. I would look into getting a stronger 3 wood.
i thought about that but i feel more confident with a hybrid thats why i was thinking of a 15 hybrid. i guess its worth a try though.

19* Adams Super LS about 200 +/- 15. I've had a few go 230 but on average 200.
how do you like that club? how well does it perform on mishits? i've been thinking about picking one up
Love it. The 80 KK really feels you are in control of the club. Feels quite different than the previous years XTD for some reason, makes more of a 'thwack' on good hits. Mishits...well they are there, heel hits will slice and for some reason I can't seem to work a long high draw even when deliberately playing off toe. But by and large, I feel I can trust this club, it's the only hybrid I've hit that isn't a hook machine.

Plays great off tee and fairway. Good weight for rough play as well (launched a 200+ from substantial rough yesterday).

Sometimes this thing decides to give itself an extra 20 yards, which might be a bad thing if you are looking for a very specific range, I'm not. This is (now) my safe club to hit as I settle into the round, it's certainly longer than my 4-iron and has allowed me to bench my 3 wood as well.

If you can snag this for under $100, I'd consider it a good deal. The stock KK shaft really fits it nice too.
thanks for the info. sounds like a club for me. I like how you say its not a hook machine. hopefully this can be true for me too. I dont necessarily want it for a specific distance. I'd use it for a safe club on a tight tee or to get near the green in two. thanks again.

In the market for a hybrid (or possibly two) as well. Very surprised Callaway's X2 Hot Pro has not been mentioned yet. It definitely depends on your woods setup and what you want to do personally. Not a fan of the orange paint scheme on the sole, but I'd probably black it out! Gorgeous matte black finish on the crown. The head feels heavier to me than other hybrid setups, and the name surely does not lie, that ball is incredibly hot off the face. I was on the sims and was averaging 35 feet from the pin on 10 shots from 265 out. 35 feet for eagle, average? Yes please! 16 degree was quickly out of the question though due to excess distance. Oddly enough the higher lofts still performed around 250, which I really don't feel I necessarily need a 250 club when I hit my 3W about 265-275 on average. If you're looking for a safe hybrid for the tee on occasion, this is the one. Paired with the Aldila Tour Green Stock and this thing is crazy low. Stingers. May try the 9031 next or the XTD from Adams. May need more of an iron type than a fairway due to my lack of yardage gaps! Great thread OP.

Current hybrid is a Stage 2 Tour TP at 20.5* but I've lowered the loft to open the face up more so I'm not sure about the loft now. I would guess its 19-19.5*, but thats only the guess. If struck properly, it is good for a carry of 230-235 and roll out depends on conditions, but probably not a lot of run due to the ability of this clubhead design to elevate the ballflight.

I've tried Adams (many models), Callaway, Cleveland, Titleist and now TM hybrids and for a while did not have any in the bag. This current Stage 2 has been impressive with the ease of getting the ball up and making good contact. I'm very satisfied with it and perhaps that has something to do with the shaft.

There are many excellent hybrids out there now after the science has been applied to many generations of them. The Ping Anser is one that I looked at and from all reports seems to be well received. To me a hybrid is becoming a personal club in the bag much like the driver and the putter in that you have to find the one that works for you.

Good luck.

I also hit an RBZ 3 hybrid with the stock setup 235 or so on the monitor which was too long for a 3h. I believe that club length was 41 or 42 inches long. That length (both in distance and actual length) is for my 5 wood. My current 3 hybrid goes 210-220 at 39 inches which gives me the proper gap from my 4 iron.

if you want to keep it simple remember this:

1) the 3-wood is basically a distance club and the next longest club after the driver..

2) the hybrid is an IRON REPLACEMENT....

based on the above...you're doing fine!!

215 yards from the turf with my 20 degree G25, and sometimes quite a bit more from a tee. A buddy has the RBZ 19 as well, and when I hit it that thing is a monster. I just have a hard time getting the RBZ in the air, so I didn't buy one. For frame of reference my driver clubhead speed is about 103 to 105 mph.

I match up almost exactly to this. Make that G25 an Anser and that is me to a T

My TM '11 TP 3H which is 18* I believe, is good for about 240 off the tee and 225 of the deck then I drop to my 4i which is about 205 and I go from there. I had a 4H which when set to 21* filled the gap between my 4i and 3H but I took it out for an extra wedge... May put it back as a feel more comfortable hitting 3/4 and 1/2 shots with my 52 than i do with my 3H. As mentioned before its all about minding the gaps...

I'm one of the few normal short-hitting people here. I hit my 19* around 205 on average. If I'm having a "good" swinging day I can put it out to 220, but I don't think I've ever hit it farther than that. Plus I hate my current XCG6 hybrid. I had a brief honeymoon with it and now I can't hit the thing to save my life. Should have kept my 909h.

Normal Day:
Driver 245
4W 225
19* 205

Good Day:
Driver 270
4W 240
19* 220

I have an RBZ 19* Hybrid that I can absolutely bomb. I hit it 230-240 on well stuck shot. I find this odd because I can only hit my 3w about 250. what about you? (model and distance) also anyone have any experience with a 15* Hybrid? I'm thinking about trying one out.
I have always hit the 19 degree hybrid about 235-40, although the TEE i added this winter can go 250 if needed.

I think the reason you see the 230-40 range with hybrid and not much different with the 3w is because a hybrid (for alot of people) is so much easier to hit, therefore you are confident with it and consistently seeing that distance.

^ This. My 23 carries about 225, 20 is 240ish, 250+ with a decent roll. The low flight is true too. It takes a little getting used to. I thought I mishit it the first time, but it just kept going.

In the process of switching to the JPX Fli-Hi 19 deg, a true iron replacement. The shorter shaft is easier for me to be consistent with, and from the turf it's good for 205-210. Loving this club so far, but still honeymoon phase.

4 hybrid - 200ish, which fits right in between my 4 iron at 190 and the 3 wood, but I'm not loving my 909 hybrid anymore, just picked up a jetspeed 3 hybrid, can't wait to hit it.
