I got this set from my boss who was getting ready to turf them, they are Cleveland Classic Tour Action Reg.588 1,3,5 woods and Cleveland Classic Tour Action Reg.588 SQ Groove 2-pw+sw. Nice job on these Pigems. I've often been tempted to pick up a set as I liked the looks of them, and the relatively low prices they sell for.

After looking at such a nice cleaned up set, I'd suggest that Cleveland owes a certain Mr. Tad Moore a commission for every set of these they sold.

Thank you sir, I know how you feel. I keep flashing from the old to new pics and back again, I love seeing the "instant" change

It took me a good chunk of my weekend to clean these bad boys up. I started with a bowl of water and dish soap and soaked each iron head in it for about ten minutes. Then I took the wire brush of my golf bag(I need a new one now lol) and spent about 10-15 min scrubbing each head(letting the next iron soak while I scrubbed so some soaked longer then others) and that removed a fair bit of the rust just by itself. I then lightly wet sanded(600 and 1000 grit paper with dish soap and water) the back of the heads, the soles and the hosels only, I didn't sand the faces with sandpaper at all, I didn't want to mess with the finish where the grooves are. I then took the brush and scrubbed the shafts with the soap and water as well which removed basically all the rust from the shafts. I did try the tinfoil on the shafts and it did work too, it was just easier with the brush.

After that the heads were looking pretty good, but most of the original paint fill was gone. I just used nail polish for paint fill and used the np brush for most of the fill just laying it on thick over the lettering letting it dry, then wiping off the excess with NPR and makup whipes. I used a toothpick to fill the small CG logo on the wedge. Then I gave all the irons a good rub with a dry shammy to try to buff some shine out of them.

For the woods I kind of got lucky because the finish on the wood part was still in pretty good shape, so I just used the soft side of the brush with soap and water to clean the wood finish. For the metal bottom of the heads, I wet sanded with 400 grit to remove whatever the old finish was that was caked onto them and get them back to shiny metal again. Then I wet sanded with 600 and then to 1000 grit to remove as much of the sanding marks as possible. Then I did the paint fill the same as the irons, also cleaned up the shafts on the woods as well. I still have to clean up the grips, they are still the original grips on all clubs so I'd like to try to save them. So if any one has any tips I'm all ears, thanks in advance

Next I'm going to take the Maguires leather polish to the bag and try to clean it up as well, I can't wait to see the clubs sitting in a pristine leather bag just like when they were new. I'll be sure to post some more pics when I get it done.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I had a blast doing this and I would definitely suggest it as a nice project for anyone to try. It turned this set of clubs that someone was just throwing away back into a beautiful set of Classic Clubs.

I put an add on Kijiji last night just out of curiousity for cleaning up old clubs and custom paint fill. I got 30 veiws just today and one guy looking to have a set of Titleist 735cm's cleaned up already. This is awesome
