Glad he got the weekend off and can spend time with the worlds first adopted child.

Seriously though... Bubba has the most exciting skill set golf has ever seen and he is one of the most disliked guy on tour by the fans. What does that say about the image that he projects to fans? What does that say about who Bubba is? If Bubba had half the character or Rickie Fowler he would be more popular than Daly was. Maybe Tiger like.

you lost me at the rickie fowler part.

It's his regular driver and he is getting paid to play it!
No, it wasn't.

Bubba played a pink Bi-Matrix in a traditional colored head up until this campaign.

He then switched over to a pink Driver head in an effort to promote the charity.
OK. So Ping paid bubba to play a pink driver, Ping donated the cash to the charity, and bubba got to "present" the check and have his picture made. Sounds like Ping is the real hero here. But bubba did allow his name to be associated and he did carry the check over -- well not quite a salt march, but you gotta start somewhere i suppose...

I'm not going to delve into explaining branding and brand management with you.

But, suffice it to say that without Bubba, there's no $250K going to the Phoenix Children's Hospital...as I suggested several pages ago.

Now, where are the photo ops of Bubba regularly abusing children (and child-like) golf fans?

Gonna stick with that?

It didn't cost bubba a dime to play his regular tour driver with pink paint. Good for him, but stop acting like it's real charity on bubba's part; it was nothing more than marketing for Ping. He's got enough to cut a 250k check out of his account if he really cares -- where is the link to that? As far as your other point, I'll direct you farther back up the thread for the answer.

Wow...looks like I really may need to explain branding and brand management to you.

Again, without Bubba, there is no $250K donation. Please read the prior sentence as many times as you need to in an effort to understand the concept.

You can dance around this notion of PING paying Bubba to play PING clubs (which if you take a close look at elite PGA Tour players, isn't all that unusual).

You can speculate about what Bubba can or can't donate on his own dime.

You can hypothesize about the charity being nothing more than PING marketing.

Here's the bottom line...$250K went to the Phoenix Children's Hospital as a direct result of Bubba's involvement in the Charity.

Anyway, here is what really happened, bubba loves pink stuff and convinced Ping to make him a pink driver, which he played on tour -- as his regular tour driver; some time later Ping got the idea to get some marketing out of it with a charity opportunity, and bubba took the opportunity to take some of the credit by taking the check around:

It's amazing that people find amusement, or 'appreciation', in other peoples failure. Especially those who refuse to show their own faces.
How is this any different then rooting against say your rival of your favorite football, baseball or basketball team? We all love our sports but some of us have teams/people we do not want to see win. Bubba is an amazing golfer but I don't like him. Do you think Packers fans are rooting for the Bears each week? Bruins fans pulling for the Canadiens? Yanks fans pulling for the Red Sox? No, they want to see them lose.
The difference, to me, is the gloating. Then again I'm not part if MLBWRX or NHLWRX or NFLWRX so maybe i just see those threads. The difference is we sit here and talk how golf is this sport that's about honor and integrity etc.
I see none in threads such as this.

How do you not understand Bubba's direct involvement with pink driver being 100% correlated with the $250K that went to Charity? PING sold limited edition drivers and donated a portion of the proceeds to Charity. Perhaps this will help you correlate the two:

http://golf.about.com/b/2012/04/10/bubba-watsons-pink-driver-coming-to-pro-shops.htm

Also, the following is directly from the Yahoo article you linked, and then literally just stated he wasn't playing the driver for charity:

But how much does Bubba love pink? Enough to convince Ping to make him a pink-headed G20 driver, which he will be using the rest of the year. Bubba has been tooling around with this driver since around Presidents Cup time, but this week will be the first time he puts it in play.
The best part? The charity aspect of it.
This is from the Ping presser ...
As part of "Bubba & Friends Drive to a Million" initiative announced by Bubba, PING will donate $300 for the first 300 drives that he launches over 300 yards in 2012. Last season, he averaged nearly 315 yards per drive on the PGA Tour.
PING is also making an upfront donation of $10,000 toward its fundraising event, which it calls "Bubba Long in Pink. Drivenby PING." All funds raised will go to Phoenix-area charities, chosen by PING with Bubba's support.

Seems like a cool cause, and that driver head will definitely get people's attention.

Let me simplify it for you:

Bubba had ping make him a pink G20 that he played on tour and used to win the Masters;

Some time later Ping made a gimmicky limited run of pink G20s, sold them at an inflated price, and gave part of the inflated proceeds to charity;

bubba "presented" the proceeds check and had his pictured snapped and his back patted.

bubba plays a pink driver before, during, and after Ping did all of this and his playing the pink driver has nothing to do with charity.

Let me simplify it for you:

Bubba had ping make him a pink G20 that he played on tour and used to win the Masters;

Some time later Ping made a gimmicky limited run of pink G20s, sold them at an inflated price, and gave part of the inflated proceeds to charity;

bubba "presented" the proceeds check and had his pictured snapped and his back patted.

bubba plays a pink driver before, during, and after Ping did all of this and his playing the pink driver has nothing to do with charity.

The article you linked is dated 1/24/12....here it is again: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/golf-devil-ball-golf/bubba-watson-pink-headed-driver-185748113.html

Bubba won the Masters on 4/8/12.

The article you linked explicitly states the following:
"Two days after Watson won the Masters, Ping said it would sell 5,000 limited-edition G20 drivers with the pink shaft and head. The drivers sell for $430, and Ping said it would donate 5 percent to a fundraising campaign called, ''Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by Ping.''

So, bubba was playing a pink driver and used it to win the Masters;
Ping made some for sale and donated the proceeds to charity;
Ping allowed bubba to take some of the credit for the charity.

"Bubba has been tooling around with this driver since around Presidents Cup time, but this week will be the first time he puts it in play.
Let's try again, with another article:

http://www.pga.com/n...ing-pink-driver

From the article:
"Two days after Watson won the Masters, Ping said it would sell 5,000 limited-edition G20 drivers with the pink shaft and head. The drivers sell for $430, and Ping said it would donate 5 percent to a fundraising campaign called, ''Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by Ping.''

Keep trying, bud.

I'll give you an A for effort, but, a F for execution.

You have nothing and you are wrong about this whole business and now you have given up. Good for you for leaving the dead horse in peace. Anyone who is reading this can look over the articles and sort this out for themselves -- it's pretty simple for most of us.

Have you seen fowler on the putting green? After every missed putt he has something to say a la Bubba. Cant stand that. They need to stop hanging around each other so much.
