The Bubba Missing the Cut Appreciation Thread

If you have watched the guy throughout his career he is obviously a rude person who blames his failings on outside agencies (the crowd, his caddie, the course, etc...). He is paid ungodly amounts of money when he wins. I have every right to root against him. Professional sports is paid for by us. If I don't like a team or individual, that's ok. I don't want the guy to die, or get sick, or starve, or even go broke. I just want him to miss cuts and that's ok. I like every other player more, so I would rather them make that money. That's not a bad thing. Not a disgrace to golf. That's just being a golf fan. I will root for the players that conduct themselves in a manner that I think is good for the game. It's easy to be gracious in victory, Bubba has shown who he is when things don't go his way.

Great post and I couldn't have said it any better. It's like we are killing kittens in here by rooting against Bubba.

Counterpoint the TW Foundation and we all know TW is a saint just like Bubba. #sarcasm
It actually has nothing to do with Tiger, however, I'm glad you've aligned the two.

They both put their shoes on just like you and I do.

They both contribute a hell of a lot more to children's foundations than you or I do.

Again, if you sanctimonious folks decide to paint a moral picture, I urge you to stick to the relevant subject matter at hand.

Now, what were you guys saying about children?

This thread is comical, a bunch of guys nowhere near good enough to even catch a glimpse of getting through sectional qualifying let alone making the cut at the US Open laughing at someone who TWO Masters victories when he misses the cut. I'm sure Bubba is very hurt by all of this bashing while driving his general lee or hovercraft while wearing his green jacket and rolling in more dough then majority of us combined.

When I meet self righteous ego maniacs in my everyday life I don't think to myself "man, I hope that guy wins $1,000,000 in the lottery this evening over tons of people that conduct their selves in a better fashion than him". I want the guys I like to do better than the guys I don't. Same principle applies in our every day lives whether you want to admit it or not.

Obviously the guy is super talented and has put in the work. Still doesn't mean it's wrong to root for everyone to beat him. I think he's a bad person... He has been around long enough now that his true colors are easy to see.

So if you're not good enough at something you can't criticize or make fun of people who are better? By your genius logic, there shouldn't be movie critics, music critics, consumer reviews, etc.

I hope Bubba really enjoys his weekend off with the family, and I would just like to personally thank him for not gracing my TV screen over the final two rounds; with his usual sooky, poor attitude. Now I can enjoy watching players like Kaymer, Spieth who enjoy being out there; and are playing some fantastic inspiring golf.

Criticize all you feel you have to. I just find it comical that people get all worked up over Bubba, Tiger or any other superstar athlete so much that they start threads rejoicing in their failure. They're out there making a living doing something all of us wish we could do but all some want to do is criticize and bash someone for wearing their heart on their sleeve. I'm willing to bet a lot of guys bashing bubba character are also in the course throwing clubs and curing up a storm, but bubba and tiger get ridiculed for what they say and how we perceive them to act. It's been said numerous times "Bubbas terrible to his caddy" but I'm sure if it was that bad for Ted he'd be looping for someone else.

Seriously though... Bubba has the most exciting skill set golf has ever seen and he is one of the most disliked guy on tour by the fans. What does that say about the image that he projects to fans? What does that say about who Bubba is? If Bubba had half the character or Rickie Fowler he would be more popular than Daly was. Maybe Tiger like.

So, Bubba wields a pink PING driver on The Tour in a partnership effort with PING to raise funds for Phoenix area charities.

PING agrees to donate $50 for each of the 5,000 drivers sold.

Yep, pretty much sums up Bubba just showing up for the photo-op.

Without Bubba, there would be no $250,000.

Just because "it's golf" doesn't mean it's completely inappropriate to root against a player. It's a sport, and we have fans have that right so long as we don't cross a line, which I don't think any of us have.

And if you're going to use the "it's golf, it's a gentlemanly game, blah blah" then you better have a talk with your boy and tell him to start acting like a gentleman on the course. Otherwise your argument is hollow

I don't know why players can't take it when they make it, but some guys just can't handle what they signed up for. He clearly is uncomfortable dealing with media attention, fans, photos, autographs, random people coming up to him, etc. He also has an eccentric personality riddled with ADD. He reminds me of Duval in some ways, where they are so painfully not interested in being a super star, yet they have the game for it. Just adds that much more amazement onto what Tiger has done... not many could deal with everything outside the ropes.

Moe Norman shared some of these same exact characteristics, yet he's widely regarded as a hero.

Meanwhile, people line up in droves to castigate Bubba.

Is there a double-standard?

The fact that he is a great player doesn't entitle him to act the way he does.

All I have to say is that when Bubba cannot over power a golf course, he cannot win. Look what he did to Augusta when he won, he basically had a wedge into every par 4 and a mid to long iron sometimes even a wedge into every par 5. He made Augusta look silly both years he won. You CANNOT overpower Pinehurst No. 2.
