Ping Tour Gorge Wedges WS, SS, TS - how to decide?

I'm replacing some heavily used green dot G2s (1200 rounds), SW & LW. Those lofts are 54º and 58º respectively w/13º and 14º bounce.

The next wedge in my bag is a G25 45º PW, but I have no issues with the "gap" as it plays with the current setup (w/above mentioned G2 S/L wedges).

I'm hitting my new G25s about 1 club further than the old G2s - so - thinking about going to a 56º SW and 60º LW in the Tour wedges. I figure I should be able to hit a new design 56 every bit as far as the old 54 right?

Anyway the real question is the Ping "sole" system. SS Standard Sole, WS Wide Sole, and TS Thin Sole.

I'll probably just stick with the SS on my SW - but unsure about the LW.

A bit about my game -

I use LW for many very creative shots around the green and tend to nip the ball over digging.

I've been told I have very "soft hands" whatever that means.

Quick up and out of bunker with soft landing.

Short and long flop shots out of rough - or out of firm thin tight lies.

I hit flops way higher than any other gal (or guys too) I know with lots of acceleration through the ball, and no fear :-)

Standard approach shots within range.

I need a smooth leading edge - NOT a digger club. There are no places to demo these wedges on real playing surfaces so I'm buying blind.

The 6º bounce 60º TS Ping LW sounds enticing - should I go for it or stick to the 10º SS which more closely matches my old 14º bounce 58º LW?

So many wedges, and no demos anywhere.

Your G2 wedges are very high bounce with wide soles. If you like the way they have played for you, I would suggest the WS versions first. The WS still has a good amount of heel relief to allow you to lay it open for flops.

If you are used to picking the ball with your current high bounce wedges, and you switch to something very low bounce like the TS grind, I suspect you will start sticking the club in the ground. Everyone's mileage varies, but in my experience the TS grind only worked for me in very dry, tight conditions.

For the exact reasons the sheriff stated, I went with WS on my tour gorge 54 and 58. They both most closely resemble the sole on my i25's but still provide a little more grind than the i25 versions to lay them open. Just felt was better compliment to the i's which I love but still let me manipulate some.

You can even still get the grinds on the wide sole so you can use the bounce and width of the sole when needed and open it up and be versatile when needed. While I am a digger, I have a different set up with all three of my Gorges, and like them all for that they are:

60 WS with the lob combo grind. Still great out of the sand, playable off the wet and I can open it up and hit is like a 64 or 68 if I need to (think downhill lie near the green).
54 WS with no grind. Lots of bounce, and great for sand shots, wet shots and shots out of lush grass, plus for a digger like me still a fine general purpose wedge so long as the lie is not real tight or hard.
50 SS with the lob combo and wrx grind (lob combo plus bounce grind basically). Great for general conditions as well as tight lies.

Then the i20 PW, which I would consider most similar to a lower lofted version of the 54 WS, making it great for wet shots and shots out of lush grass, but due to the lower loft also fine for tight lies so long as you're not trying to flop it, which I'm not trying to do with a 130+ club with 46º of loft.

I played the G25's (now Karsten's) ever since they came out using PW, UW and Gorge 54 SS & 58 TS. If I were to do it again I would change the 58 from TS to WS, only because this was my bunker wedge and the TS is great for chipping but not so for full bunker sand or wedge shots out of heavy rough. With your PW at 45" look at a Gorge 52* SS and 60* WS. The 52" SS is great for those light chips around the green and the 60* WS works wonders out of the sand and heavy rough. Good Luck.
