vegas golf Oct 2014 conditions?

Recommended Posts

i know there have been a lot of vegas discussions however i am heading there on the 28th for a few days and will be bringing my sticks... i always make time to go to Callaway Gardens... i mean the Taylormade performance centre lol... in the past i have golfed Bali Hai and Desert pines and was wondering what the conditions are like so far this fall season... also are there any recommended courses in the area to play? i would certainly appreciate any help i can get... going as a single if that helps... the wife doesn't golf.

As said above, Paiute is in great shape, and they just finished their reseeding last month and a buddy of mine helps run it out there, says it's in fantastic shape. Late October @ Paiute though, be prepared to battle some windy conditions.

All the courses should be in pretty good shape as most of them shut it down for a few weeks in early September. Weather here still getting into the 90s, but that shouldn't be sticking around much longer... October through November, really the best time of year here to play IMO.

I'd also recommend Royal Links, if you get the chance. I know Bears Best/Bali Hai get more chatter, but I've played them all in the past couple months, and hands down, felt like the best bang for our buck was Royal Links. Fun course.

Coyote springs is about 55 min. away from the strip. It is in AMAZING shape rite now. Great course IMO.

Can't wait to get up there. Locals rate is great... $69 opposed to $169+ for out-of-town (or whatever it's at right now). Resident rates, one of the few things that makes living here bearable

I highly recommend Paiute Golf Resort! It's located right off highway 95 North, about 25 minutes from the strip, but worth the drive. They have 3 beautiful courses that are easily the best maintained courses in Vegas!

I second that, played there in April, great course, great condition, not a bad drive at all. It may be pricey if you have to get a taxi but if you have a rental its not too far.

Played Bali Hai a few weeks ago. It is in just as good of shape as it usually is. If you are willing to shell out the cash or have the right connections, try to play at the Wynn. Great golfing experience.
[/quote]yeah i played Bali Hai just over a year ago right before they shut down in sept... i had a great day with my son there... shot 80 that day... would have been a 76 except for the 8 on the last hole... OMG... what a day.

I go to Vegas regularly and play there quite a bit. We went out to Coyote Springs last February and it IS a hike to get out there, literally in the middle of nowhere. It didn't even have power until recently and they ran the place on generators. It's a nice course but I didn't care for the greens. A lot of them have tiers and mounds and the day we played the pin placements were ridiculous. They were also extremely fast.

What that did, basically, was slow the round down to a crawl when the group in front of you is four-putting everything. It didn't bother me so much, but if they want to get the average guy out there they need to make the greens more playable. People want to have a good time, not struggle. They aren't doing themselves any favors when people don't want to go back there.

Given the choice, I would rather play Paiute. It's a lot closer and not that much different than Coyote except for the greens being a lot friendlier. They're still pretty fast, but not nearly as severe.

Closer in, Siena is a nice course, as is Legacy. Either of these will not set you back what they charge at Bali Hai, either.
