Hello, Gentlemen...

Newbie here. Looks like a nice place. I love the game, but I'm not real serious about trying to get much better at it. Believe I've reached my level of incompetence. I'm fairly computer illiterate, so there won't be much in the way of avatars and emoticons and the like. If I had to sum up my game with a song it would be the one that goes "and I still haven't found what I'm looking for." Whatever, look forward to conversing with you keepers of the game.

I know, it's freakin' awful, right? I went to the range the night I signed up on here and I had them going on big time. It was a really bad session where I just kept hitting them and had no idea why or how o fix it. Felt like I was making a really good swing. I was close to breaking down and crying like a little girl. I pleaded to God to just let me hit one decent shot and I would go home. Thankfully I did. Got straight since, but, wow!

Actually, it's Northeast, Maryland. Should have capitalized it. Strangely enough, it's right up in the north east corner of the state. Beautiful Cecil County.

I know what you mean about cheap golf. The less I pay to play, the more my wife likes it. I guess the best course in the immediate area is Chesapeake Bay at Rising Sun. Used to be called Chantilly. Same guy also manages Chesapeake bay at Northeast, but that one is pretty much a dog track. I Play one out in Perryville called Furnace Bay. Reasonable rates, but they seem to be struggling lately. First six holes wind through the woods and I think it scares off a lot of players. You can walk on just about any time. Fourth operating course in the area is Patriot's Glen in Elkton. They are just reclaiming that after having closed it down for a year or so. Nature did it's best to erase the golf course, but the new owners are making a sincere effort to bring it back an I'm betting it will be in pretty decent shape next year. Just got back from there as a matter of fact. Progressing along nicely, and charging dirt cheap rates while in renovation. Just played for 17 bucks with cart. My absolute favorite course is about a 40 minute ride up into Pa. Pilgrim's Oak up in Peach Bottom. Can be brutally hard for a mediocre player like myself depending on where they put the pins, but beautiful and always well kept.
