Cobra Fly Z and Fly Z+ Drivers: In-hand photos

Now that I've had more time with the Fly-Z+, I can say this is a really good driver. It is definitely longer on center hits than my last two drivers, but what's impressive is how long it is on off-center hits. I am constantly surprised at how good my misses are--both distance and accuracy wise. When you miss the center, it sounds awful, but the ball still gets out there.

It's on purpose. Based on results, you'd never know you mishit it, so they made it sound like crap just to remind you and knock you down a peg or two...but still put your ball in play. So they're like "Good Guy Cobra". They let you know you ain't perfect, but give you results like you're close.

I would be interested to know also. I'm still a huge fan of the bio cell +. I've hit the Fly Z+, but didn't think it was worth it from the bio cell+

Anyone with the Fly Z head. Did you guys upgrade the shaft at no upcharge? If so, which shaft did you upgrade to?

I just purchased a FLY Z Driver, and have a couple of rounds with it. I will put up a review this weekend.

I believe I read on GolfWRX that if you are going to buy a driver off the rack, this is your best bet. I would have to agree with that assessment so far. My Driver SS is 95-100mph, and this driver fit me very well right off the rack. I think it offers the forgiveness of Ping, with great looks and very good distance. I like the fact that it sits very square, is adjustable and still sits square, has a deep face, and provides a great trajectory. It probably spins more that the average driver, but in my case I need the spin.

I also like that you can purchase extra sole weights so you can alter the club length easily. I like to play a 44.5" driver, and cutting this driver down and changing the weight make this very simple.

Haven't used a Cobra club in over 20yrs, but I think the entire FLY Z line looks good. I am headed to a demo day later in May to check out the Fairways and FLY Z+ irons. I am an AP2 player so the FLY Z+ irons have captured my interest.

What does the draw setting do to make it draw? Since the face angle doesn't change I'm assuming it is just an upright setting. Am I correct?

Thanks in advance!

Picked up Fly Z + head on WRX this fall. Installed an Aldila DVS shaft (old but it suits my swing) and it sat in my basement for 4 months. Played Saturday and holy golf balls! Long long long. After my first drive I had to examine the head. Sure did not sound like a titanium head. Very muted and not even a "metal" sound.

I picked up a Fly Z head off the bay and mated it with the Aldila DVS shaft. Hit some of my longest drives in a long time. Definitely longer than the Biocell (which I will be selling) and I really did like the Biocell.

Does your head sound very muted without a metallic sound?

To be honest, I really did not notice the sound at impact (which , imo, is a good thing). The ball just jumps off the Fly z face, though. My buddy hit it once and just destroyed it. Definitely has a hot face.

Have been looking at these drivers as of late and want to pull the trigger on one but not sure which one to get. Swing speed is around 108-113 or so. I hear the FLy X + sounds a lot better with the carbon fibre head. I have tried the regular Fly Z on the course and hit it well but wasn't a huge fan of the feel. Sound and feel are both important to me when deciding on a driver. Spin has never been an issue with my swing but I do like the fact that the Fly Z+ has the option to put the weight in the back for more spin and forgiveness. Anyone that has this club , or hit it can comment on the forgiveness, sound and feel ? Thanks.

Been playing one for the last couple of years. I have a similar swing speed and I really love my Z+. I cut the shaft down to 44.5" and have it weighted to D3. I find this to be a very forgiving driver and the feel off the face is great. As far as the sound goes, I am not sure how much it was affected by the added weight to the head, but it is rather muted in my driver. It doesn't ping and that is really all I ask.

I know this is an old thread and these drivers are obsolete ..... but i have a question about the Fly Z +.

I tried the Bio Cell + a couple of times, i really wanted to love it but I couldn't get the ball to stay in the air long enough to maximize performance. Too low spin for me. Is there ANY chance i could make the Fly Z + work with its flip zone thing weight back?

I love Cobra but like smaller looking heads which are all low spin models with their brand.

I tried to love the Fly Z+ last year. Even bought a high launching White Tie shafts for it.

In the end I couldn't overcome the same issue you're talking about. Ball just wouldn't stay in the air. Had to sell it.
