lie angle adjustment on newer model taylormade irons?

Has anyone had any problems getting the lie angle on newer model taylormade cast irons adjusted, i thought there was a notch on the heel to make this a lot easier?

i have just purchased some rsi 1's and wanted to get the lie angle changed but been told because there not forged so they cant do it? but like i said i thought they put the notch in so they can be?

and yes i know i should have bought a brand new set with the lies already adjusted, but for the price i got them for i'll live with it if they cant be adjusted ( i change my clubs to often to buy brand new everytime lol)

You can definitely bend non-forged irons. Just have to find a competent club builder.

Also depends on how much you want them to be adjusted. Cast sets are sometimes more limited than forged on how far adjustments can be made.

If a local builder wont do it, you can send them back to Taylormade to have the adjustments done - usually for free except for shipping (which I realize might be a problem for you in the UK).

its only 2 degree flat so i wouldnt of thought it would be a major issue?

No, 2 deg is usually not a problem for cast clubs. Probably ran into a builder who is simply not comfortable (or experienced) bending cast and didn't want to risk damaging the heads. Most of them do take more effort to bend. I'd just 'shop around' for another builder. I certainly wouldn't want to have (or pressure) someone into doing the work if they are not comfortable doing it.

Cast can be bent. Ping put those notches on the hosel just so that they can be bent more easily and now TM. The notch is there for a reason. That notch makes bending so much easier.

Cast irons can be bent, but I've seen some in the past where the manufacturer warned against doing it aftermarket. I remember seeing Cleveland TA7s on the shelf with warning labels about bending then, cannot remember exactly why though.

I'd contact TM to see what they recommend.
