I think most of the comments are just plain stupid. Are you people serious?? I've travelled to enough places to know what all kinds of s*** can go down in the late hours. Be it Hawaii, mainland USA, China, India.. You've watched way too many movies. Even if 5 people kidnapped him, it doesn't mean that they'll all just beat him to death. Maybe they were after something, and when it didn't happen the way they expected, they got rid of him.

Usually what happens is with spiked drinks is exactly the type of stuff reported by him.

I'd expect grown up golf enthusiasts to have a little more sense to be speculating here on all the possible ways he lied about the incident and about all stuff that he "really" was doing when this took place.

Get out more, go to places and drink some beer. You might surprise yourself with the stuff that really happens outside between your country club and office for crying out loud!

He was looking for drugs or booty.

I was at a Russian club. My crew left and I stayed thinking I could handle myself.

My new "friends" kept pouring vodka and I didnt want to look soft so I kept drinking. Got pretty hazy, you know how time starts moving in segments.

I got up to go and heard the words, "where are you going? You are coming with us"

These ladies had no mercy ; )

One time me and some friends went to Vegas for a bachelor party, and they left me on the roof on a mattress, and then engaged in a full day of hijinx before remembering where they left me.

Couple of years later a very similar thing happened in Thailand for another one of my friends weddings, except this time we forgot a kid in an elevator

Golfers and alcohol. What a combo. He who is without sin cast the first stone. 99% of us have been the same level drunk where bad things could have happened. Maybe more when were younger though.....
You nailed it in your last sentence. Allenby is 44, he should know better.
Haven't seen the news reports. What exactly did he do?
He claimed to have been at a local wine bar with his caddie, finished up around 11, and got kidnapped in the parking lot.

He should know better?
He said the last thing he remembers was going to the toilet then it all went blank. Sounds like someone who had way too much too drink. We've all been there but most of us have outgrown that sort of behaviour well before 44. He claimed to be drugged and kidnapped, but didn't go to the hospital for a toxicology test? Nothing about Allenbys version of events adds up.

Usually exactly what happens when someone gets blind drunk, comes a cropper, and concocts a drink spiking story to shift blame from themself. Could have easily gone down like he said, but statistically more likely he was just drunk.
I guess we'll have to wait for the outcome of the police investigation. Not going to hospital is unusual for someone who believes they are a victim of the crimes he claims.

Just saw him interviewed on TGC, he took a beating, his face shows it with no doubts in my mind. And his statements today make it appear that a lot of what was reported earlier was made up by reporters, I know how shocking that a news person can't get a story straight. His statement was that he left alone, felt a tap on his shoulder and then lights out, found by a lady and military person who rendered aid to get him home.

As far as conspiracy theories I'm with Ak not being able to give him a beating on course took him out in the alley last night.

C'mon guys.

A lot of you are acting like a bunch of gossip mongers.

Why not sit back and wait to see what unfolds rather than concocting fantasies.

There is nothing in his past to suggest he would have told it any other way than he believes it occurred.
Fair enough if you choose to be scepitcal but the truth is you don't know.
If the truth turns out to be different to what has been reported then say your piece. Until then wait and see, if for nothing else, in the cause of common human decency.

Remember, he is the victim here.

A lot of you should hang your heads in shame for what you have posted.

I believe that this can happen from a friends personal experience this summer.....
junior member at our club in FLA mid thirties 6'3 240 big guy --in Praque with others from his
law firm + wags and his wife went across town to shop-- he hit a local pub for a beer
and woke up with his forehead cracked open in an alley mugged-- just recently had round
2 of the plastic surgery to work on the scar--- gypsies probably got him and most likely the
bartender was involved-- none of it could be proven.... dude just wanted to get the hell home
not a drunk or a bar fly just a normal guy --- can happen to anyone at anywhere in the world

Getting king hit from behind in the carpark is far more believeable than the original drink spiking story. Drink spiking requires planning and pre meditation, unlikely. An opportunistic cheap shot attack on a soft target too drunk to see it coming, much more likely. Still stand by my comment that he should have been old enough and wise enough to avoid putting himself in a position of vulnerability.

Yeah, what an idiot. Going to a public establishment, having a few cocktails.

Just begging to be jumped. Sounds like it was an inevitability. Next time he'll learn- just stay home and lock his door.

Whatever you say chief. Being drunk anywhere, anytime puts you in that position. Didn't say it was his fault or he deserved to get bashed. I just said he put himself in a position where bad things can happen by being out drunk in an unsafe environment. Maybe I'm judging things harshly by Sydney standards, but from my experience (I occasionally work around late night venues), being under the influence at busy venues, late at night, especially outside the venue like in a car park, is not safe. You can see things in a perfect world perspective, I prefer to deal in realities. And in this case the proof is in the pudding. He was out late, drunk, in a car park of a popular drinking venue, and got jumped. I feel sorry for the guy and agree he didn't deserve it, but opportunistic bottom feeders like the punks who did this don't see the world the same way as you and me. They just see an easy mark and what they can take and get away with.
