The 2011 PRGR Egg series is legendary, as long as you get the right shaft in it. Other favorites are Royal Collection BBD 305v and 306v and Yamaha, especially the 2011 Inpres X V. Also, lots of love for the Ryoma D-1 series, but they are pricey!

Can't say it enough, but shaft is critical since most JDM stock shafts are light and play softer in flex. Better to pay a little more for an aftermarket shaft, since it will be a real aftermarket shaft an not a made for shaft.

Good luck!

Don't know if you are set 100% on a fairway wood, but I really like the new Bridgestone J15 hybrids and they have a 17* model U1 which is a bomber.

Like Tsupo said, not a lot of 4 woods, but one that comes to mind is the Yamaha X V series which make a 17* 5 wood and the older, but highly regarded, i.F.F. series 4 wood.

The original Egg from 08 or whatever the PX3 is probably the easiest to hit FW wood ever made. Sound and feel aren't the greatest but not terrible by any means. Long as well. Just a great all around head. Can't go wrong with most RC designs either though.

202, hands down...only you didn't mention feel in your criteria...if you don't mind closed faces the older onoff fwy wings come in 17 and are very good otherwise go with the iff or what tsupo said...

Tourstage is geared to the better player, so looks and workability are there, but never the longest or most forgiving clubs. I liked the old F-ST series and there are pros who still game the 701 series fairway woods. Good clubs, but not in the legendary status of the EGG and iFF.

I have a 2013 Egg mated to a Crazy 6.9 FW80 and a S-Yard XV with stock Fujikura Rombax shaft. Both are 15* 3wd's. I love the Egg off the tee but I have a hard time hitting it off the deck. It may be the shaft, as the 6.9 is to soft for me and probably would need a 7.2/7.4. The ball FLIES off the face when struck square and you know right away when you missed one. A lot of better players who have tried it have said the same thing. The right shaft is truly important in the EGG.

I love the XV! It is automatic and is a complete 180* from the Egg in look, sound and feel. I know I have to pay attention to every aspect of my swing with the Egg and except the risk that comes with reward of a good swing. A decent swing will still come out great with the XV with no fuss. Great for off days, time away from the game or pressure on the shot on hand. I want the Egg to work but I know the XV will work!

My next fairway wood will be a Ryoma D-1. Love the concept and want to see how it feels and sounds. I have heard great things about Epon and Fourteen woods too.

I really haven't tinkered too much, but have tried a few (Royal Collection, Modart, Ryoma), and for me, the clear cut winner is Ryoma. I have an F3 that is just butter, so easy to hit and massively long! I try not to get too involved and just stick w/ what works for FW, but I can't help but eye that new Glorious 3W from JBeam. I hear its even better than the F3, which I almost find unbelievable! Guess I gotta try hehe

Which year of the prgr egg was best?

IMO '11 was their pinnacle...everything since performs but I don't like their quality...

Just started my journey to JDM. Have a Ryoma D1 on the way and Big Bertha Hybrids. Do you feel the D1 fairway is as long as my Rapture 2014 fairway? It's a beast for me.

I am in love with my Glorious. My only wish is that it was 14* and not 15.5. My home course is a narrow desert course and I've been hitting it off the tee so purely. I'm in love. Of course the ho that i am, I just picked up a Crazy shaft I'm going to try because the TRPX feels a little soft for me. But off the deck and off the tee, it's ridiculously easy to hit.
