had an argument with a guy in the office today.

 

He was trying to make the point that it's okay to hit into someone on a driveable par 4 as long as you don't normally get there. But it's not okay on a reachable par 5.

 

Anyway, I'll probably hit into you on hole 4. But, it will be rolling when it gets there. I'm not waiting for eagle to putt after Kent has already laid up to 150. So just be ready.

 

Also, that might be hole 14. Every time I've played there the sides have switched.

Life update - accepted a job offer from FINRA in Rockville, starts on the 15th. So I'm probably going to move to the Rockville/Shady Grove metro area to make the commute easier (& get closer to golf courses). That being said, any input on which golf courses in the area are worth looking into for memberships? I know a bunch of guys are at Hobbits (though that's a bit out of the way), WM would be pretty close, and Needwood is like 5 minutes from the Shady Grove metro and has an unlimited range balls/50% off green fees for $60/month which is definitely the cheapest option. Any other courses I should look at that aren't going to break the bank?

Bit more of a hike, but Little Bennett has an awesome deal at $35/mo: unlimited range balls on a grass range, $10 greens fees in super twilight, 50% discounted rates on other "non ideal" times (weekdays after 11, weekends after 1pm!). Looks like only 25 minutes from FINRA, and depending on where you move it could be closer. You really can't beat that deal.

 

There are a few private course fairly nearby that aren't "break the bank" expensive, depending on your definition. Hopefully I'm not way off on some of these, but Argyle and Manor come to mind.

 

It's pretty solid golf territory. You are about 15 minutes closer to every decent public course than I am. 20 min to Worthington, 20 min to Blue Mash. They have memberships that cut the cost/round down if you play there a lot.

That was PB Dye for the Turkey Shoot. They do have a grass range, but it's usually off of mats.

 

I think all around, Blue Mash is a better range + practice facility than Little Bennett. But Little Bennett could save you some money if you are hitting a lot of balls, plus the other benefits of the cheap membership are nice. Those two + Waverly are the best public practice facilities within an hour of Rockville though.

 

I have a little Bennett membership even though I only get up there ~2x a month. I went more when I first got it, but it's 35 minutes for me, not 25 minutes. At 2x a month it's more expensive than Blue Mash, but still less expensive than the grass tees and practice facility at Olney Golf Park. I may get rid of it and just go to Blue Mash when I want to hit the grass.

Hey! Shiggles is my line! Anyway... Nice try, but NO. I'm not going to try out the iBlade. I'm not going to try out the next Mizuno Blade, I'm not going to try out any blades. Well except for razor blades, but that's neither here nor there.

 

HOWEVER, that does not mean I won't try out players cavities, or normal Game Improvement irons or Super Game Improvement irons (considering my handicap tells the manufacturers 'HACK!').
