There are no aim points - I aim 30 yards left of the center of the fairway to allow for my push slice. On par 3s, I aim at the flag every time to allow for my 4 way miss.

Puppet's inability to turn in better scores remains the greatest enigma of our time. I think the only superfriend that could possibly score worse with Puppet's golf swing than Puppet does is Siegel.

Played with Puppet's caucasian doppleganger last week. Dude was crushing it off the tee and but had his short game, too.

Was it a full moon last night? My kids were up all night, just awake. I got a great night of sleep on Tuesday, so I guess that was just a gift in preparation for last night.

In any case, it gave me time to think about the state of my ball striking. The immediate consequence of the backswing change I'm working on is getting the face much too closed at impact. I'm getting a really nice strike, but with the face getting too closed, I'm giving way too much love to the left side of the golf course. When I don't get it closed too much, it's just this effortless feeling push-draw. I'm wondering if this is something that will work it's way out over time, as I adjust my release pattern to the new backswing, or if I need to address it specifically.

I don't really think my grip is too strong, but my club face appears fairly closed at the top of my swing in this shot from when I practiced(!) last weekend. Plenty of folks play well with a closed face at the top, though.

Maybe it's something that I just need to consciously try to manipulate (i.e., try to feel like I get the face more open, and start shots to the right)?

What problem were you trying to fix? Hitting the ball too straight?

Tex throwing down a number today from the gold tees at Blue Mash. Gearing up for the stroke play championship, I hope.

Nice playing, Tex. Gonna be a throwdown.

I'm like puppet in that I am far left to allow for my massive push fade.

I usually pick some unique feature that is on the line I want to start the ball....tree, roof, edge of bunker, etc. I then follow that line back to my ball and find something about a foot or so in front of my ball to help with alignment. I've used city's divot method before and it's my favorite but I'll also use a blade of grass, old dead grass...anything that somewhat stands out. I'll keep my eye on that spot as I step up to the ball so I don't lose it.

My driving, while not good, has gotten better since I started using this method. I do the same line up routine for all my shots...irons, chips, putts. So now you know what I'm doing when I stand behind the ball with my club held up like a sword (I'm using it to help get the line).

With all that said, look at my handi...you shouldn't take golf advice from me.

I tried playing with players clubs before. While I can hit them fine on good days, the bad days were really bad. It really did a number to my confidence with the clubs. I need a decent amount of help but I also want something that looks and feel decent. I think the 565s I have now satisfy all of those.

Now for you good guys, I'm not sure it would help. It may even hurt a little.

Put those P790's on my short list of 2 year old irons to buy 2 years from now. Those things look great.

With the speedFoam the the screw in the toe?

Had this conversation with ahoop. Wonder what playing SGI irons (think Ping G#'s) would do for each of our games.

As you know, I've played AP2s here-and-there. I think I hit the MBs better. I really do. Also, the AP2s had hot spots, and flew too high, and went too straight. I couldn't hit butter cuts and hard draws, and forget about trying to hit punch shots into the wind.

Yeah, and I'm going to tape birthday candles to the top and light them before each shot.

I want Sully to do that and see if the candles go out.

Put the gremlins to work about a month ago on the twist for this year's 7's.

Woke up about 3 AM last night.

The gremlins delivered unto me an idea that was not available while in conscious thought. I think they knew enough to wait until after Bethpage.

Going on a mini-vacation next week. Gonna start #nameIt when I get back.

If you regularly play a course with wet fairways and very soft, receptive greens does it make any sense to play any ball except as low a spinner as you can find?

There is no other tournament (including Cap Cup-blasphemy I know) that each year I look forward to more than the 7's at Gpow.

Just the mention of it is enough for an anticipation semi-chubb...
