Thanks. The top lifts up like one of those coffee tables that lifts up to the couch. We were definitely shocked when they revealed it. I knew it would be made out of Mexican pine but didn't realize it would be so grand.

Round Recap :

Played with PQ at Waverly Woods yesterday. Teed off when it was breezy and chilly. #CityPants in play. 2-3 club wind in some spots. Played with Bridgestone B-330 S from an Eagle-supplied Chode sleeve. I gotta tell ya that ball is great. Cuts through the wind. Long off the tee. Control around the green. Holds its line. Spins when I need it.

Oh, wait, I forgot I'm not in a TV commerical. . .it behaves exactly like every other single ball out there.

You guys want to talk about 200 yard 7-irons? Hole 2, I hit driver to the top, middle of the fairway. PQ outdrove me by about 40 yards. I had about 250 in. I hit 7I to about 90 yards. PQ hit 8I that hit about 2 feet from the pin and he had 12 feet left for eagle. It was downhill, downwind, but it still went about 185.

We figured 15 was playing about 160 which was right for me. I hit a 7I pin high. PQ hit a pitching wedge pin high. I'm as long as anyone in my club, even the lower caps, and PQ is 2-3 clubs longer than I am. It's absolutely beast mode out there. Goose is that long, too, so it's not like that doesn't exist. I've seen goose hit that 6I like 190.

Anyway. . .very typical round for how I've been playing. Solid ball striking. No scoring.

7/14 FWs. 11/18 greens. No birdies. 2 3-putts. Neither one acceptable.

Finished bogey-bogey for 79. 39-40.

Played the par 3's in even. Parred hole 8. The other 3 par 5's. . .bogeyed every one of them from good lies inside 115 yards.

Sounding like a broken record, but I've never hit the ball better and I'm just not putting up a score. The round went in as a 5.8 differential, and the cap trend went UP to 6.7. It was hole 16 or 17 and PQ says, "you haven't missed a shot today have you?" and I really couldn't say that I had. Slightly mis-judged distances on 2, 4 and 11.

For comparison, PQ hit 7 or 8 greens and shot 77. It helped that he birdied 2 where I bogeyed, and he EAGLED 18 with a 40 yard chip in while I bogeyed. That was back-to-back rounds he's eagled 18. I had him by a stroke going into 18 and lost to him by 2. I got 4 strokes from him in the match, though, and closed him with a halve on 15. The strokes helped.

Shots:

14 was playing down wind, and I GPS'ed our drives. I was 285. PQ was 325 in the rough so he didn't get much roll .It was big.

I put my hybrid on the green pin high on 9 from 205 into the wind, and again pin high on 12 from 200.

On 18, I pulled my drive into the left hazard. Had about a 5 yard wide window to shoot through, and cut the ball a hair and would have headed to the right rough, except it glanced off the tree which sent it back right down the middle of the fairway without taking much speed off it at all. One inch more right and it ricochets back at my face.

We had a single join us on 10, which is fine (goose, it was actually the guy who joined us over the winter with MeatMike and MeatDave and we played as 5), but we were really in a rhythm, both found the fairway on 10 and new guy pulls one left, so all of a sudden, we're looking for a ball for the first time all day and I'm thinking about someone else's s***. Still, he's cool. I just wanted to hear him say, "that's fine, go play". He was also looking 50 yards past where his ball was. Then he lost one on 11.

He made putt of the day on 12, though. Flew the green, barely chipped back on and sunk a curling downhill 25/30 footer for par.

Waverly is in nice shape. Greens were punched a few weeks ago, but rolled pretty true and quick.

If we did best-ball, we would have been -1. Contrast to Sunday where we were +4 and I was playing 600 yard LONGER yesterday.

The ONLY holes he screwed up all day were when he was using his 3W. He crushed it on 18, but it was his achilles heel most of the day.

He was talking about going back to his old one. That was before the eagle on 18, though.

Cityrecap is spot-on, much like his ball-striking yesterday. He didn't miss a shot of any consequence until 18. I’d say we both left 3-4 shots out there on the greens (probably 5-6 for City).

I am close to deciding to gift the 915 to the dogs as a chew toy. Everyone raves about that club, but I hit it like absolute garbage, and I’ve tried 3 different shafts in it that have all worked for me in the past. Now it’s just a mental thing, which is the death of any club. [b]Tex[/b], I was using my old 910 at Northwest, which I should just stick with. I am stupid, so I’ll probably bring the 915 to PoS for one last hurrah. There are deep gorges there to toss it into.

All-in-all, our scores were pretty good given the very strong winds (I'd say steady 15-20mph, though it settled a bit on the back 9), cold weather, and thick rough (some of the lies were pretty brutal).

I am more than one short; closer to half of the box.

 

I have not. I have an original BB 103 in the 910 and I'm a bit weary of switching adapters at risk of ruining the shaft. It's impossible to find that shaft anymore. I did try Speeder 9.2TSx (that was in there last night, in fact), Rombax p95x, S+ 102x, and the new S+ 80-TX. It is mental. I am mental.

 

The 915 just feels toy'ish to me. I am going to the range tomorrow afternoon to see if I can get along with it. If not, buh-bye. The 910 is NOT spinner for me. It is the FD and I tipped the shaft 1.5". It launches pretty low, in fact and will run out more than my driver when courses aren't mush like at present.
