My son and I went out this morning and played the executive course at Needwood. It was my first time playing with my shiny new Ping G30 irons, courtesy of Ping and Golf WRX!!! Here's my bag:

 

 

The G30 irons are so easy to hit. The heads are rather big and shovel-like. The cork sniffers would shudder, but as a bogie golfer they're perfect for me. And I was a bit concerned because my previous irons had had graphite shafts. I'd always preferred a lighter shaft, but I have no problem swinging these babies.

Little Bennett was SLOWWWWWW...until we passed the 2 groups in front of us then the back 9 took less than 2 hours. People who get super early tee times need to show somehow, someway that they are capable of setting the pace especially if they have the first tee time...smh. 3 hour front 9 is RIDICULOUS.

Real barn burner in the intersquad match today. The caps in the foursome were 5.1, 5.2, 5.2, and 5.4 and the result was consistent.

On the 17th, everything was square and one of the other guys had a miracle pitch in. My partner and I couldn't make the birdies to halve it out on 17 and 18.

I shot an 82 with 3 birds, so there's good and bad. Bunker play cost me 3+ shots, I officially have sand yips. Several bad doubles as well. BUT I played the par 3's in -2, birdied arguably the hardest hole kn the course, and drove/putted like a madman today. Turned the + from 9.5 down to 8.5 and I am absolutely destroying it now.

As a reformed sand yipper, I think we can do something about that tomorrow .

Well obviously, I should try lead tape on the new wedges.

Balls are still plugging at SP. On 8, I crushed a drive. Where it plugged, I believe it would have rolled almost to the left greenside bunker.

I was really psyched with my pressure putting on the back though. I made a handful of 5-6 footers to halve when the other two were pressing us. And I didn't shank my tee shot on 1 with a gallery

Caps game last night was incredible. I went from being glad I didn't go to ticked off that I wasn't there. Not going to make that mistake again!

Had one of those "OMG everything is just clicking" range sessions today. Felt good and didn't have any pain afterwards. Hopefully I keep it up for PoS

I didnt have enough time to finish the round before the course closed so I just began to hit multiple balls on the last couple holes. How the hell can I go from hitting money iron shots to only hitting toppers and week low slices?

The weather was just phenomenal yesterday. I was expecting to see more round reports than there were.

The new clubs look great, Dave. Don't worry about what the cork sniffers think. They can take those corks and stick 'em where the sun doesn't shine.

I've still got a way to go with these wrists, but I'm heading out to do some putting and maybe some light chipping later this morning. It's starting to get to the point where I need to know if I'm healing well enough without further medical intervention. Having the issue be "manageable" means being able to golf to me.
