Duncan finally looked old. Will be interesting to see if he comes back. Adams was really good throughout the series but interested to see how the Adams/Kanter combo holds up against the Warriors small ball lineups.

 

Love seeing Durant and Westbrook both healthy, playing at a high level. Their road to a title is so tough, Spurs, Warriors, Cavs. Going to be fun to watch.

Fun time with Siegel and City yesterday at Hobbit's. I am day dreaming about a monte cristo from the grill, and I didn't even have it.

 

Siegel is in his own head right now. Issues finding the center of the face, but got it figured out on 17 and 18. Hopefully that's a little foreshadowing action. When he hits it it goes a long way and looks and sounds awesome. He'll get back there.

 

City wasn't getting up and down like we've all seen him do. Cost him a round in the 70s. He and I both ended up with 83's, so that's basically all you need to know about his day. I played fine, and he just didn't score as well as he can. Whatever at least there's no big "golf competition" anytime soon or anything.

 

I thought I hit it well. 50% GIR off only 44% fairways hit. I've been focusing on trying to get better on approaches/putts/up and downs and created a game:

 

3 points for GIR + 1-putt

2 points for GIR + 2-putt

1 point for NGIR + 1-putt

-1 point for NGIR + 2-putt

-4 points for 3-putt

 

Unfortunately I 3 putted the first hole of the day, and also 10 and 11. Still ended up with 5 points overall. I'm not sure if that's good or not. Going to keep this "score" for a while and see how it shakes out. Need to start concentrating on up and downs more, even if you're chipping for par and putting for bogey. Too many times I just lose focus if par is out of the picture. Hopefully this changes.

 

City ended up with 7 points with no 3-putts.

 

The food at Hobbits was very good.

Sounds like a cool way of keeping track of things, I'll have to do that.

 

Might be just because I make so many bogies, but a solid bogey save can really turn around a stretch of golf when you don't have your best. Doubles are the devil.

Played at Falls Road in a scramble yesterday. We were -14 and won. I guess Postal chief inspectors actually work because most of the groups were pretty bad. The course was in very good shape. The rough was deep and dense with it being wet. Greens were in good shape and a good speed. Hit the driver like sh!t but the rest of the game was good. We parred 4 of the 5 par 3's. Never hit the ball close on par 3's, just outside of good birdie range all day. We drove 3 par 4's from the blue tee's 320, 314 and 324. All were birdies.

 

Which par 4s...#1, #7, #17? Most of the par4s are kind of pushovers there, with the exception of #6, #12, and #13 which can play tough.

 

#5 and #14 are pretty legit tough par 3s, but you should at least have a decent look at birdie on #9 and #11, with #3 somewhere in between.

 

Know if anyone reached #4 in 2? I'm always curious about that one, since there's the big tree blocking that approach.

 

It's definitely a place where people with less ability play, because the course works for them. It's one of the go-to courses I take friends who are poor golfers. It's short-ish with no real forced carries (except...#16 tee shot). You can dribble the ball 80 yards on every shot and still work your way to the green at a reasonable pace. There really aren't that many courses around where you can do that. It's also one of the main reasons I avoid the course during the season if I'm not bringing a poor golfer with me :). Haven't played an in-season round there since 2014 I think, even though it's the closest course to me.

I wonder if they set the course up easier this year? Day tied the course record yesterday, but there were a lot of guys just 2 shots behind him. Rickie won at -12 last year, but finished birdie/eagle/birdie/birdie on the final 4 holes to get there.

There wasn't any wind and there apparently was little to no wind. Watching the late night recap, there were some friendly pins out there too. Saw like 4 or 5 guys reach #16 in two with shortish clubs and the pin was right on the front (no water in play).

My calculator skills were fine. It's the rest of my brain that is the problem. 12 people, not 12 teams. So 12 points and 16 points Sat/Sunday?
