Can someone explain the handicap differential to a math challenged person? The lowest differential I've had is since keeping my handicap was a 5.4 when I shot a 76 at East Potomac. How the hell do you get negative differentials? I'm confused. I just looked at my scores and differentials from the Grint. Somehow I shot an 84 at Marlton and got a differential of 77.2. WTF. Am I stupid, a horrible golfer, or what?

First of all, eagle's thing is NET differential. So, (round differential) - (course handicap).

 

Second, thegrint's course database is F'ed up. Guarantee that course isn't entered in the database properly. It's such a problem, I'm just gonna pay to keep my handicap at Hobbits. I'm tired of fixing sh1t.

look at this column on your grint scorecard.

 

 

 

 

enter the Hdcp Diff in the "grint differential" space, and the HCP in the the grintcoursehandicap space.

 

 

 

people get negative differentials by exceeding their course handicap by that number. in other words, when you play a really really great round (a la citygame, 2moreterps and Stix this period) you'll get a negative differential.

Speaking of cart bags, any good suggestions for a newer cart bag without the 15 way top? The C130 I think still makes a 7-way top but thats about the only newer model I've been able to find.

 

Off for my latest match in our club championship bracket. Only have put 3 new clubs in the bag in the last week....so thats not too bad....

I've actually gone to the one in Rockville some. Mainly to get sporting equipment for my son, soccer and baseball stuff. It's not a great store, but they do carry a wide variety of things. The customer service was crap. I guess we'll be going to Modell's more now.

I played a different course today, Hunting Hawk. I took the time to stretch, warm up on the range, and putt on the practice green before I played tonight. I chose to play from the white tees today; I had not played this course this season so I figured I'd start with the white tees this time especially after our discussion a few days ago. The greens while covered in bumps from poor ball mark repair were rolling nice and quickly.

 

I shot five over with two lost tee shots (one drew too much and the wind took it left into the water, and the second was a huge block to the right) and two three putts. I carded two doubles, three bogeys, two pars, and two birdies! I was striping my driver on the range but I struggled on the course in the beginning. I basically throttled back on the source and played nice easy swings off the tee. I almost birdied the last hole too.

 

I stopped lining up my putts with the lettering on my ball. I just picked a spot on my line about a foot in front of the ball and went by feel. My lag putting was way better and sank quite a few.

 

Even with the less than stellar driving in the early holes I'm very happy with how I played. I'm taking this weekend to relax, let my back rest up, and get more practice time in next week and then play just two rounds. Hope everyone else hit em well today!
