Matching Head Covers? Yes or No?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what you guys think of matching head covers throughout the bag. Going with some Robert Mark Golf head covers but I don't know if it's too much to have the driver, 3, 5, and hybrid to all match or if they should vary it up a bit.

Thoughts?

Definitely like them to match. Don't care what you have under them but a bag of mismatched headcovers is just unappealing to me. I too solve this problem with help from Ju Ju, but I'm a fan of any nice aftermarket headcover solution.

I'd say it doesn't matter. None of mine match but ideally I'd like matching covers for my 2 hybrids and three wood. The big dog gets its own headcover.
[/quote]I pretty much agree, it's nice to have matching head covers, but usually the Driver doesn't match the rest of the woods/hybrids. My driver is on it's own, but the 3, 5, woods, & the 3 hybrids all match. I also use iron covers that all match. There's a lot to be said about appearance for the psyche, when your clubs are pleasing to your eye, you have a tendency to hit them better.

Same here. My two hybrid covers match because they happen to be the same brand. Driver is Titleist and was bought used without a head cover, so I use a generic one with magnet closures that's easy to put on. 3W is different brand from the driver and hybrids.

I like having one that stands out from the rest. When my grandfather died, I took some of his golf stuff to keep around. One thing I took was a head cover from a 4 wood (the orange knit cover). I keep that on my 4 wood and it probably the most important thing I have on my bag. That said, I'm looking into having a custom one for my driver made to match.

I have a Ping G20 driver that just fits me, and can't find a driver to replace it. Not that I am trying to, but you know how it goes for golfers, always looking. The head cover for it is just too laborous to keep taking off and putting back on, so my wife is knitting me a head cover. Usually, the head covers that come with drivers are stylish, and good looking, but difficult to 'off ad on' them, so I can see somebody getting tired of this procedure and getting a user friendly cover.

Personally I like to use the factory head covers that come with the clubs. I normally play callaway and titleist and both have made their headcovers look as good as the clubs they protect... during tournaments "imho" they give more of a professional appearance. I may not be able to play great but I'll damn sure look great lol

I game clashing Rocket Tours. My wife thought my golf bag looked boring and asked if I'd like new headcovers for Father's Day a couple of years ago. I told her to make it look like I found my headcovers in my grandmother's attic. Mission accomplished.

I like matching wood and hybrid covers (in my case, Club Glove). But I've seen plenty of scratch player's bags with ragged covers and even old gym socks. What ever makes you happy, what ever works.

I have an old school barrel style Arnold Palmer cover on the 9 wood and an Old Master's pom pom type on the 7 wood. All this goes along with my raggety ratty 8 year old Titleist Staff bag

Mix them up. I, like second post, use headcovers from different courses. The one headcover I always use is the Wagner GEICO gecko driver cover. It's not about Johnson Wagner, GEICO or gechos. I just like that it is super easy to take off and put on the driver and protects it really well with nothing scratchy inside. Struggling to put a driver cover on seems stupid to me.

All my covers, g25 driver, titleist 3 wood and Cameron putter are red and black not by choice, that's how they come. My Mrs commented so many times about the bag not matching the head covers, blue ping hoof.

Next bag I bought the Mrs came with me and what do you know I chose red and black. Cant believe the colours not matching didn't kill me.

I have the stock Anser cover for the Driver and hybrid... but I bought the "black replacement covers" from Ping so that there wasn't a noticeable difference. they are almost the same cover.
Driver - Black and Grey Anser
3/5 wood - Black Ping cover
Hybrid -Black and Grey Anser

really the only difference from about 10 feet away is the grey patch on the anser head cover. The Anser head covers arent very overstated
