Matching Head Covers? Yes or No?

to me, all matching headcovers looked a little strange. I mean, who has matching driver fairway woods hybrids irons and putter covers?

I did matching knuugoods.com leather sets;(me second set) black and silver (Raiders colors) wife's purple and white and my brother got alternating colors. My brother did black,red and white color scheme, driver was black with red diamond and white x insert, 3wood was red with white diamond and black 3 insert and hybrid he did white with Black diamond and red H insert. They came out awesome and company was super to work with, I plan on buying friends and family some more custom leather sets for Xmas. They always have coupons on site and if you are returning customer they give you a huge break

As an aside to headcovers, I never understood why people like using the manufacturer-issued ones.

very good point, probably the best thing would be a sock type head cover that slips on and off very easily and will protect the club. I bought a new Callaway XR16 this year and it has a flashy head cover that just begs for attention. I'm going to find some sort of sock style hc for it. One thing I do is always keep the hood zippered up on my bag unless I am out on the course golfing.

I've been the same for many years now - animal headcover for the driver (they're fun and much easier to pull on and off than OEM's) and then OEM covers for the FW and HY. With that said, I'm about to change it up w/ the sweet new WRX hc set that I have coming my way. I'll still leave the driver as is, but I'll rock the matching WRX covers on the FW and HY.

 

The current animal on the big stick is the Emperor Penguin which is mostly a representation of me being a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan. His name is Geno, and if any other NHL fans are reading this then you probably get that reference.

 

Putter I change up at random among a handful of headcovers - I have 3 WRX covers, a couple from nice courses, a Scratch cover when I visited their shop, and some other randoms.

For me headcovers are all different makes but the colours tend to blend in with my bag which is black.

Current set up is

Callaway B B 815 Alpha - Adams 9015D sock type cover (black)

TM Aeroburner TP HL 3 WOOD in a Titleist 975F Pro Trajectory 14.5 sock type cover (black & red)

TM Aeroburner TP HL 22 deg. Hybrid in a Adams Pro DHY sock type cover (black white)

Ping G30 17 deg hybrid in a Adams XTD Ti sock type cover (black red & white)

 

Advantages to having a mismatched set of older brand head covers are your latest and greatest club purchases are anonymous to would be thieves, your regular playing partners who will take a while to realise that you are blasting it past them with the latest technology and most importantly to the good wife/partner/whoever who does not know about the comings and goings beneath the covers (golf head covers that is!)

I like them to have an obvious coordinating trend, but not be matchey matchey.

In light of that statement, the argyle hybrid will be replaced soon. Ish.

as long as you are using the covers that came with the club, they dont have to match. If they all are different covers for random clubs then i would say no covers.

I decided a few years ago to use Walmart type Wilson headcovers on my Ping driver and fairways.

 

I just got new Cobra woods, and since Wilson has become a bit more respectable, I now sport Top Flite headcovers on them. I admit they are tough to look at, but they are the best theft deterrent device on the market. I also have iron covers on my Callaway irons. My bag screams cheap hacker's equipment that no one would want.

 

I have also thought that you better have game to be a walking billboard for one of the major manufacturer's releases.

I like matching head covers but mine don't match right now, but they are the same type of covers. I actually turned the 16 to and 18 with a sharpie on the Adams cover because it's on my 18* RFE 5 wood lol. They do kind of match without matching though somehow :)

I don't mind matching as long as they are the standard head covers. When you personally buy new matching ones, that irks me.

I once matched them - Iliac Leather, and then began mixing them up.

 

Depends on you - in the long run, matching is conservative and easier to sell if that occurs. I keep all my Iliacs. They've gone way up in price...

All matching black Stealth headcovers on the driver and my woods. Looks pleasing to the eye and I don't like to advertise what I have.

Wow... such an "all or nothing" crowd. I have 4 covers that are a mix of matching and complimentary... I think it's cohesive without having the "boxed set" look. And yes, those are ladies F7 headcovers, but I like the white better than the black... when I come across one for a reasonable price, I'll stick a ladies F7 Fairway cover on the Baffler and put the black COBRA headcover on whatever hybrid is there at the time (right now it's between an Adams DHy 24* and an FLY-Z 4/5 cranked down/open) so it will alternate white/black/white/black.

I am a fan of the covers matching a color theme. They shouldn't all be the same cover but at least look like they belong together. And matching the bag is crucial to my OCD.

Mine don't match. I am switching to M2 headcovers but one is 2017 and one is 2016

Still on the hunt for a reasonably priced Ladies' F7 Fairway cover... every now and then I see one pop up on ebay for $15, but it's hard to justify even that when resting my hopes on finding one in the $5 used headcover baskets at PGASS.

I'd rather spend $15 on a new one than roll the dice on finding a $5 one in the bin that's actually clean and still white. I think those F7 covers are one of the nicest stock covers offered lately. They're really sharp and the womens ones looks awesome in your bag. No shame.

I'd normally agree, but the laundry basket full of like new headcovers in the garage from various coordinations, color-schemes, clubs I've traded, etc makes even that feel like too much when what I have still all coordinates really well and now I'm buying JUST so they would alternate white/black/white/black instead of white/black/black/white... I think I have to draw the line SOMEWHERE.

I have at least a dozen where the club was flipped/traded//ho'ed before the cover even arrived!
