Its that time again. Every fall my sisters family and my mom come stay for a while. Last year we held our first family tournament and my crew retained the can. This year my brother in law is talking smack and the Calcutta is getting pretty large. Do any of you hold a family tournament?

We have a family golf day every year (8 years total). Nine hole stroke play at a different course every year. Usually around 10-12 of us. There is always some good rivalries going on by the end of the summer when it is held. I've got my name on there 3 of the last 4 years. Only played 5 years and last year was the morning after my stag and doe. I had to get a ride to the course in the morning due to having few to many pops the night before.

We have a family and friends tournament every year at the end of October that was hatched at my cousins wedding 20 years ago. Somebody watched a video of Trevino, Norman and some other guys playing an exhibition with one club in England I think. They were hitting these big hooks with irons to get max distance and pulling off crazy bunker shots with 4irons.

The next day 12 of us from the wedding went out to a small 9 holer and had a one club and putter tourney. The first course we went to actually pulled the $120 we gave them out of the register and sent us packing because they had a sign in the pro shop saying "each player must play out his own bag." Some guys didn't bring a bag since they only had two clubs. This despite the fact that snow flurries were drifting about and there was only one other player on the course. The next course we went to gladly took our money, and we've gone back every year. Good times, and you'd be surprised to learn how good you can shoot at a short little 9 holer with only one club.

I can't take a photo of the trophy cause it is proudly displayed at the home of last years winner, but we are playing this year on Nov. 1st so I'll grab a pic and post it then.

Wow, an actual trophy... We are Clan Campbell so the soup can was a wine induced creation last year of which I was, if not proud, at least pleased with. That is pretty awesome, thanks for posting the photo. We just use a sharpie and write the winner on the can....

Yea got a deal on a golf trophy. Basically the winner pays 5$ and gets it engraved. Makes it a little more interesting for holidays when you see the trophy at someone else's house.

Nothing against anyone using actual trophies, because obviously those are going to be nice, though I believe that yours lends itself to laughs and "let's not take ourselves too seriously"

My in-laws and I have held a tournament for about 13 years now. Complete with sterling silver trophy engraved with names in it. Winner picks the following for next year: golf course, who will host the tournament dinner, and the dinner menu (in reality, it's usually take-out pizza).
