Toledo & Canton OH

So I'm venturing out this weekend to Ohio for a wedding, I'm still unsure about bringing the clubs with me but the plan is to leave Thursday night and stop somewhere around the 4 hour mark which puts us around Toledo. Any good suggestions for golf around the Toledo area on Friday morning? If I do bring the clubs I'd be looking to play around Canton as well Saturday morning. The wedding is at Brookside Country Club but they have no interest in letting us out on the course, in fact they got really rude with the groom when he asked if it would be possible to get a 4some out, but anyway I'm looking to stay within 10 minutes of that area if possible, it looks like there's some nice courses further away but I don't think I'd be able to make the round trip in time and get back for the wedding activities. I do appreciate any suggestions!

I am not that familiar with the Toledo courses (unless you can call in some big favors and get on Inverness. If you can, call me! ) but just about 10 miles south is Bowling Green and the Stone Ridge course which is just west of town might be fun, though I haven't played it this year and so I don't know about the conditioning there right now. Don't even think about the BGSU course which you will see right off I-75. It's hardly a course at all. The weather should be cool, but not too bad otherwise. I live about an hour south of there. Further down I-75 is Red Hawk near Findlay, which is also a good track that has had its conditioning improved this year. That might be farther south than you want to go, though.

I've tried every connection I know of to get on Inverness and when those all failed I even called the course, thought it'd be worth a shot since this is probably the one and only time in my life I'll be stopping in Toledo. Also tried a couple of the privates out in Canton since again I don't plan on any repeat visits and a lot of the courses in the area I'm looking to stay in are private. Ohio so far has no love for me lol.

For Canton it looks like Tam O Shanter is the nearest course but the reviews seem to be mixed.

My family is members of Brookside, it's hard to get on unless you are with a member. It's the best course in the area for sure. I live in Chicago and not a member myself (parents are) so I can't be of much help.

Play The Quarry, it's an awesome layout not too far from there. I grew up across the street from Tam O Shanter and have played it 500 or more times, it's kinda a boring layout. If you have one round play The Quarry.

I might also suggest Seven Hills in Hartville which is like 20 minutes north. You may also be able to get on Glenmoor if you reach out to their head pro. It's right across from Brookside, private, but not as private as Brookside

The Legacy just north of the border in Michigan is nice. Same with Bedford HIlls and Giant Oak. I prefer those 3 to anything in the Toledo area and it's only about 10-15 minute drive from Toledo to those courses.

Bedford Hills and Legacy are just over the border in MI. Both great places (Legacy is an Arthur Hills track). My sister lives in Highland Meadows - great course. Belmont, Riverby, Heather Downs, Ottawa Park, Tamaran, Tanglewood, Maumee Valley are all good tracks and within a short driving distance.

Don't know about golf in Canton. Only time I've been there was to go to the Hall of Fame.

Highland Meadows and Belmont are private clubs. I'd put Legacy, Bedford Hills, and Giant Oak way above the others listed. Legacy would be my first choice.

I understand that, but I don't know what the OP's "connections" are and Highland Meadows and Belmont aren't as hard to get on to as Inverness. For that matter, I'd throw Brandywine CC on there too if he has any type of "connections". Could try having the head Pro at his local club call for him.
I haven't been there to play in awhile, but I'd put Riverby and maybe even Heather Downs up there with Bedford Hills. Not familiar with Giant Oak, but I agree, Legacy is an excellent track.
I liked the Buckeye and the Wolverine, but never cared for the Irish much.

You would like Giant Oak. They really take care of their greens there and the pace of play is usually pretty decent. Every says the same thing about Bedford Hills, they like the Buckeye and Wolverine best. I actually like the Irish the best, because of the 3 par 5's.

My connection is a friend who is head pro at a swanky club in my area. I dont normally call in favors with him but he was willing to try on Inverness. The weather Sat looks pretty cold (yes I'm a wuss) so now I may just skip the round Saturday. Thanks guys for the suggestions, the Arthur Hills course looks really nice so that may be the winner.

Trip already happened and I probably will never make my way back out to Canton again! Unfortunately the weather ended up being awful in the time frames I had available to play so no golf happened and the clubs just took up space. I appreciate all the input.
