Pro V1, too much spin?

To be fair I think most of us meant we spin it too much in the air (lose distance) , not spin too much on greens. That's what I meant anyway...

It's called a driver swing. I can't really tell the difference in most premium balls on approach shots.

Why do some use the pro v1x then?

Less side spin and higher ball flight. I think you see more the true bombers using the ProV1x instead of the ProV1.

In my hands with driver (don't know SS but carry distance is 245-250+), ProV1x flies further than ProV. With my irons both balls OA are nearly the same distance wise. Difference between the two balls shows around the greens. Full swing wedge, ProV spins back more than ProV1x, but shorter 30-40yd shots, ProV runs out more than ProV1x.

I like both Pro Vs but like the OP they spin a little too much. Been playing the chrome soft for a couple months and it seems to be a good alternative. A premium ball with a urethane cover that spins a perfect amount on full shots and the short ones.

Is Pro V1 a good ball? Definitely yes!

Is Pro V1 the best ball? Definitely not!

At least not for me. And one of the reason is that this ball is in a way unpredictable. Sometimes it spins like hell, sometimes it doesn't. A slight "below-perfect-shot" and there's a huge variance in spin compared to a so called perfect shot.

The consequence for me: Hands off the Pro V1! It does worsen my score. I am far better off with a ball for half the price.

It's 90% ProV1x, 10% ProV1
ProV1 hasn't been the most played ball on tour for quite a while.

I had the same problem with the prov1. Too much spin and they would get eaten by one wedge shot. I switched to the bridgestone. Not going back. Tour b xs is my new favorite now and will be until they stop making them. The tour b x or older model tour b330 and b330s were also great if you needed extra distance but sacrifices spin around greens.
