i will say, having played it a few times, it is more visually intimadating than anything. a lot of the landing area are larger than they appear on the tee box.

That is very true. I shot 76 that day. I didn't play it all the way back. I think it played around 7,100 from the tees I played. A great course no doubt.

Thanks. It is one of my favorite courses. I try to get there at least once a year.

that place looks awesome. yet another one on my list to play within the next 10 years. One of my best friends played there and almost quit the game before the back 9 started. He said it was not a walk in the park, lets just leave it there. thanks for posting those great pics.

It is going to be an interesting week if the wind blows. I am usually fortunate enough to play there a few times a year and while the course has been made a bit easier since 1991, it is still the hardest golf course I have ever played. I have only played it from the back tees once and that was because the wind was down. This may be one of the few Champions Tour events that I am really looking forward to watching.

Hey Pingman, when were those pictures taken? I was there in October and and the had the fairways painted for the Senior PGA, but hadn't grown anything in yet. I just love playing there, and I would be next week if I didn't have surgery on my foot :tongue:

Have the pics been moved. I am still trying to decide to play there in mid Nov. or not got it fig. at oround 400 to play w/tip included with that. Or play elswhere, am trying to explain to wife the type course it is and that why it cost like that plus we have a newborn. Do you have to use caddie or can you carry your on.

So did you make it out there? I am curious how the course plays this time of year.

No I played Wild Dines Link's instead now looking at those pics I am regreting not, But i got a new set of irons instead. I couln't see pics a few weeks ago but today i can see them. You know I played the Links course and was alone and enjoyed it probably would have been better there with caddy and all to soak it in well maybe next year oh and it was beautiful day hardly any breeze and 60.

I love the Wild Dunes courses. The Harbor Course is tons of fan as well. But its VERY tight, you better be hitting the ball straight out there. The links course is cool as well. Plus you can play both of those courses for less than The Ocean Course.

I grew up here and have never played it.....but just started learning golf a couple years now. One day if I get down in 90s or lower I might give it a try but cant see paying for a caddie on Ocean course when his help in clubs and lies wont help if I cant execute the swing properly...LOL

I like Turtle Point just fine...plus with my yearly CHARLESTON TEE TIME passbook I can play the Ocean course for the cost of a caddie only...or Turtle, osprey or oak point for cost of a cart only.

Very few restrictions other than must play after 11am......Kiawah is no play in April and Sat/Sun in October.....but other than that is very wide open.

They only do 1800-2000 each year so they go fast. My buddies just bought a book a piece this week so we can play together as foursome at these. Only one I likely wont do is the Ocean course even though all I would have to pay is the Caddie Fee....If I empty the book and it is only one left then I might be forced to give it a try.


I have nothing to do with this booklet they told me about it last year at Golf Headquarters on Savannah Highway but ordered too late...so this year I made sure it was a XMas present...the book is valid from Dec 2007 through Dec 2008.

i always play wild dunes when i am visiting charleston too. the harbor use to be my favorite, but the links has started to grow on me, although i've been disappointed with whats happened to 18. that was a great par 5. harbor course is definetly tight. nothing like getting on the first tee, with no warm up and there expensive houses on the right real tight and water on the left.

This is one on my list as well; just played Tiburon in Naples on Saturday and WOW is that course brutal from the tips. The wind was blowing in the 20's and it made the course extremely long (7300yrds already). It was in absolutely perfect condition because of the Merrell Lynch Shootout the weekend before. We had a few hookups but the I hear guest fee is $375 or something crazy like that (yes we tipped a lot!). Both of these are sweet tracks!
