T.I.N. Box Partners review

Hey all,

I know there have been some threads on quality yardage book holders, but I just wanted to post a little review of my experience with T.I.N. Box Partners.

I guess to start off, I'm a huge golf nerd like most here on WRX. One of the things i really enjoy collecting from courses that isn't really expensive at all is yardage books. Some aren't the greatest, others are fantastic. I've always thought they've been kind of cool, and are a good souvenir to help remember the course, as well as even help you out when you have some blind tee shots, or need to know the distance to or to carry a specific hazard. I have a range finder, but sometimes a book is a little better in certain instances.

Not many courses offer yardage books, especially all the Muni's around my area...so I thought...hey, I could make my own!!

After making about 10 of them....I learned what worked, and what didn't. I've finally got it down to what I like to use, (other's might think they are gargbage, but I'm pretty proud of my work.

I use my own course knowledge, the Arccos App, Google Earth, and Affinity Designer on my Mac to make each hold and get the yardages.

I've done the greens as well, and have them mapped out with a grid in 5 yard increments, but I still need to draw the undulations. Kind of hard to do in the winter, so I didn't include that in the pics below. I recently bough a Wacom Tablet, and plan on rough sketch them on the course in the spring, and then get them printed electronically after that's done...just to add the professional touch.

So, after completing my books...I thought, hey...i really need some covers for these bad boys so they don't get ruined after some good use!

I tried Coobs golf, and those are pretty good, but I wanted something exotic, and personalized, something that was my own and would maybe even get a couple compliments!

One day, one of my good buddies sent me a link the T.I.N. Box partners webpage. http://www.tinboxpartners.com

I browsed through their galleries, and thought these things looked legit! I browsed some forums on the WRX and heard nothing but good reviews. And hey...if you're making these for the Ryder Cup ad President's cup...they've got to be top notch.

So, i sent them an email inquiring about their Mr. 3 wiggle covers (the exotic covers) for myself, and the Hacker series (still high quality, but kind of like the leather on a Scotty Headcover) for a couple gifts for my dad and brother.

I sent him what I was looking for and a couple ideas on colors.

Not a half hour later, i get an email from Dan himself giving me detailed breakdown of what they could do, and how he could help. We sent a couple emails back and forth, and this guy would email me back within 10-15 minutes, and at 10-11PM. You would think this guy never sleeps!

They even sent me some pics of what the skins looked like to assure I was happy with the color combo.

I settled on what i wanted, and he shot me a mockup of the cover at 2am! I opened the email the next morning, and gave him the go-ahead.

I ordered two of the hacker series as gifts, one right handed, and one left handed (my brother is a lefty). I also ordered 2 exotic covers for myself, as they were going to get some heavy use.

They Hacker's came in pretty quick, and I was more than thrilled with what i got! Exotic covers take a bit longer to make, so i had to wait 2 more weeks for those.

After receiving my items...the next day, I got an email from Katrina...the WITCH (woman in the control hub). lol. She reached out to me assuring I had got the covers and wanted my feedback.

I was already impressed with the speediness/timeliness of their customer service response, but to actually reach out to the customer post transaction when they already had my money...that astonished me. I've never had a company do that before. She was genuinely interested in my feedback.

I let them know that the lefty cover came back with an actual right handed pencil holder....not a huge mistake...very minor in my opinion. Just more of an inconvenience than anything. I let them know, and told them i was still super happy with my purchases, and they would definitely have more of my business in the future.

Katrina emailed back, very apologetic (again, i was not upset), saying they were sorry for the inconvenience, and Dan would make it up to me...My 2 exotic covers were still in the process of being made.

I thought to myself...there really is no need. It's not a big deal.

A couple of weeks later, (yesterday actually) I receive my exotic covers in the mail. I opened up the box, and am Amazed. All i can say is WOW. The quality of these bad boys is unreal! The weight of leather, the quality of the stiching, everything. It feels great. Yardage book fits perfect, and holds a scorecard on the top. I couldnt be happier.

But what do you know, Dan included an extra cover in there for me...A Captan America cover. It is their special combat edition in black and gray. That was his idea of "making it up to me." That is what i call going the extra mile to assure your customers are happy. Taking a small situation, that really didn't bother me at all...and blowing me away with a free item i was never expecting. I told them i was just passing along my feedback, and they appreciated it, as it helps them get better and monitor their processes.

I was one happy camper.

But enough of this long post. I'm sure you want pictures!

Here it is: my Mr. 3 wiggle Ostrich Leather cover in a "sand" color. This thing is unreal .

I highly recommend Dan and his crew over at T.I.N. Box. Anyone wanting a yardage book cover or scorecard holder...they can do anything you want! Great customer service, and fast turnaround time. They won't disappoint!

i use GolfSteady for all my yardage books too -- they're great for pre-mapping the course and then getting yardages on course/green to get correct slopes and whatnot. GREAT blank yardage books.
