i am taking a family vaca to yellowstone this july. not sure exactly where we are staying but was wondering what some of the best courses are. all opinions welcome. thank you

^^^^ this. Depending on where you are staying, could easily add an hour or more to your drive to get to a course. There are no courses in the park (that would be cool ). I played in Big Sky, about an hour away (I think). Nothing special, but decent.

Agree...Yellowstone is a big park.

It's amazing. Went there last summer.

Recommend going to Livingston MT if you can.

Really cool western town w/neat Main Street and 9 hole course on the Yellowstone river.

Really windy...All the time. So golf will be an experience.

I am also heading to Montana Wyoming etc first three weeks in July with the fam gotta break in the new RV LOL.

I've looked at old works in anaconda id welcome other suggestions.

I enjoyed playing Old Works. Black sand in the bunkers is very different.

They have had some financial difficulties and almost closed last fall.

I enjoyed playing Old Works. Black sand in the bunkers is very different.

Olde Works is great a great track. Black "Sand" is actually mining slag left over. Environmental super fund site so was a "free" course so to speak for Anaconda. It is in a remote area so a tough place for "financial" success.

Do you know in what areas of Montana you will be in? If you going up near Glacier Park there is some very good tracks in that region. Played pretty much every course it seemed growing up there.Western side of the state has the best courses.

Isn't old works a Nicklaus course?If I remember correctly rated one of the best course values in the USA a few years back.

Olive Glenn Golf and Country Club is there, next closest is in Powell about 15/20 miles away. Not much in that area.

Thanks for the input everyone. Our tentative plans are coming in from the east and hitting great falls and butte and snaking down into Yellowstone. I'm thinking old works for sure but might look for others. I'd love something really scenic, elevated boxes etc.

Also if anyone is in the area love to try and get a foursome.

Grew up in Great Falls, only a couple of courses (basic Muni's) and one CC. Eagle Falls and Anaconda hills are the two public. Olde Works is the best option honestly with your trip route.

The best public courses are in the NW corner by Kalispell / Whitefish.
