Golf Handicap App

Anyone know of an App out there (for IOS) that is good for inputting scores aand tracking your handicap? I do not have one, but i play a lot of golf so figured it would be a good idea to get one, and what easier way then through an app on my phone.

I don't know about a free one, but the standard is the GHIN, free with USGA membership

The Grint is a good one that I've been using for a two years now.. Free, easy to use, can track shots per round and has a free gps to go with it.

There's an upgrade purchase available to get in depth stats and all that, but I don't need a computer system to tell him I miss right too often lol.

ended up joing the USGA via their website for $10, and downloading the GHIN App. How do i get my GHIN number now to beging posting scores via the app?

Now you gotta pay more for your GHIN number, such a scam. I don't trust half of the people and the HCP's they claim anyway so I don't bother. Keep my avg score, GIR and FWH and that's good enough for me.

I have used golf shot before. Now I have a GHIN through my local muni. Golf shot also has a scorecard that can track stats. I still use it for that feature but GHIN for handicap

I use Swing by Swing. I paid the extra $14 for two years of Looper membership and feel that it was well worth the money! Tracks max and average distance of every club.

I was going to download "the grint" to try it based on the popularity here. But, then noticed that it has 10K users compared to Swing by Swing's 1Mil. So, I figure that I'll leave well enough alone. For right now, I don't need an "official" handicap. Will maybe switch if required to when I join a club for tournaments.

I use Golfshot GPS. It has a field that I believe used to say "handicap" but now says "average to par". I think they made the change right after they added support for GHIN. Does anyone know or can speculate if their "average to par" number could be used as a handicap? I don't play in any official tournaments but I use my handicap for betting purposes.

so it turns out, i was able to get a free GHIN number from the club i belong to down in Naples with my folks. downloaded the GHIN app on IOS and boom can start inputting my scores...as soon as the weather allows me to get out there and play

Does anyone know or can speculate if their "average to par" number could be used as a handicap? I don't play in any official tournaments but I use my handicap for betting purposes.

Mine shows 8.7 in GolfShot and my official handicap from TheGrint is 8.5, so I'd say the average to par number in GolfShot is pretty close. Honestly, I've noticed some ratings and slopes for courses being off slightly in one or the other, so that's probably what accounts for the small difference.

Another vote for the Grint here. I've tried a ton of golf apps and it's the only one that I found that really provides what I need. Their GPS feature isn't the best but honestly I use a Bushnell Neo Ghost for that anyway. The handicap system works great!

One potential problem with GHIN handicap. You MUST repeat MUST NOT play alone. you must play with someone else or you are not supposed to input the score to GHIN. Only peer-reviewed scores played by USGA rules and no Slope Laser. But if you play alone, that round is not allowed to be posted.
