Sweetens Day Spring 2017

Recommended Posts

Keep hearing how unbelievable Sweetens Cove is in South Pittsburg, TN (Chattanooga Metro). Since it's close to 3 states and several big cities, what does everyone think about having an outing there on a Saturday next Spring? They do have an unlimited daily rate, but I'm quite sure would be down for giving us a deal

We could do many different money games and have some fun.

I'm happy to organize and get some prizes (Titleist/FJ) as long as we can get the interest-train rolling.

Thoughts/Suggestions???

-Pete

I have yet to go play Sweeten's, but was told recently that it didn't live up to its hype. The fellow that told may have just been turned off by it being a nine hole course, or possibly the layout of the course, but he has been fairly accurate in reports on other courses. That being said, I would be interested in giving it a try one day just in case he is wrong.

I have wanted to play Sweetens Cove since Ari first told me about it. I follow them on social media, and the place looks incredible.

The course is incredible. It's challenging and very scoreable at the same time.

The negative is pretty much everything other than the 9 holes. 1 porta potty on the entire property, a small shed for a pro shop with no refreshments, and no range/putting green. I can understand someone not being impressed by these things, but not the course. It's fantastic.

Just talked to Patrick who is one of the owners. He said they have 18 carts and would be happy to work out a deal with us for a Saturday so obviously most we could do is 36 players (unless you crazies want to walk 36 holes)

More details to follow, but feel free to start telling others about this as I have 5 or 6 people not on this site that are interested in coming as well.

I played there this past Wednesday. Man, those greens are fast. And boy are there many levels to them. The par 3 #4 I believe...only played like 125 to the middle of the green from the blue tees. I was just off the green, between both side of the green (if you played there you know what I'm talking about. There was green in front of me and behind me. Kinda in a cutout ). I had to hit to the peak of the green, away from flag about 90'away to have it roll down the ridge/hill and stop somewhere close. It rolled to about 5' and I was able to par, but the hole just made me laugh. Very challenging.

I played it last fall and loved it. It's challenging and a great match play course. Lots of different lines to take as well. I actually was thinking of organizing a get together because it's that fun of a course so hope to see this happen.

Here's my review if anyone wants a closer look at the course:

For sure will do. Everyone please be sure and share this with your playing partners. We're definitely doing this in March/April.

Okay everyone I need to start getting an accurate count of how many (and who) WRXers are planning on attending. They have 36 carts so we can essential have the whole place to ourselves the entire day.

I'd like us to look at Saturday, March 25th or Saturday April 1st

Please PM me if you are interested and which date works best for you. Thanks!

bump to keep this going. I'll be in. fairways won't be fully in until may/June, doesn't really matter as the course will plays the same year round, a little firmer/ faster in the summer.

depending on the date, I'm down. Wouldn't it be better to wait a little longer and let the fairways come back to life. It's still fun either way, I just played it with dormant fairways.

fine with that, sounded like we would have better luck getting the course to ourselves' for an entire Saturday earlier in the year

if Patrick is willing to work with us then I'm all for it!

For the very few that messaged or replied on here, thanks. Unfortunately looks like we're going to have to move this. Have gotten little interest/input aside from the aforementioned and I'm too busy to keep reminding everyone.

But let's definitely get the interest train rolling beyond "sounds fun"!!

Well if we can't make it happen in the next few months, then try to shoot for late summer when it's hard and fast.

Absolutely! Would love to see how their version of hard and fast stacks up against Honors...
