2017 TaylorMade M2 Driver Photos!

Recommended Posts

Ok, I've hit both new drivers at this point, for one extended range session. As for 2017 M2, it really produces almost identical launch and spin numbers for me as 2016 but it is a bit larger in the hitting area and it seems a bit more forgiving. This one is more of a lateral move imo. If you are a 2016 M2 lover, I see no reason to change what you have. M1 on the other hand is a big jump forward in my opinion.

How does the 2017 M1 compare to 2016 in terms launch, spin, distance and dispersion? Thanks

This product is so new I have to be careful about giving out too much hard data. I can say, FOR ME, the M1 is lower spin, and my misses which tend to be slightly more centered, as opposed to slightly high toe, where I want to hit it, are improved. By that I mean, any strike below or at the center line picks up spin for me. This driver is a bit more spin forgiving on that hit. As far as ball speed, it's very similar, but it is certainly more forgiving, and for me, it is lower spin. For reference my swing is mid 120's and ball speed low 180's with a driver. Handicap +2.

I did not hit the M2 '16/'17 vs the M2. I own a 10.5 M2 '16. Fuji Pro 50 R flex (tipped 1" as TM does, so plays like an S- or R+), and played it off vs the Epic, Cobra F7/F7+ and 2017 M1.

My numbers with the '16 M2 are 98-102 SS, with a 238 carry and 138-140 ball speed (forgot spin and launch, but think something like a 10-11 and 3000).

In the end the '17 M1 beat out the Epic AND my '16 M2.

To me the '17 M1 sounds better than the Epic, which was nice and similar numbers, but for me, left biased.

The numbers on a '17 M1 with a Fuji Pro 58 XLR8 Reg in 10.5 set to 11.5 with weight middle to rear, and SLDR towards fade just off middle, were....102-104 SS, ball speed of 143-145 and best carry of 248. I have not seen 145 ball speeds in a long time.

I ended-up getting the '17 M1, which looks like a '16 M2, with just as much forgiveness and MOI, sounds great, and with all the "under the carriage" adjustability.

I hit the M1 3 wood, and not nearly as forgiving, and ended-up getting a '17 M2 3 15 in Reg REAX to replace the same from '16 M2 3 wood. Better launch and forgiveness IMO, over what was already a GREAT 3 wood.
