Shucks. If anyone is in the Atlanta area and wants to play Sat. or Sunday, shoot me a PM or email [email protected] .

Where do you normally play?

I don't really have a home course, I just kind of roam all of the place.....ah the life of a public golfer. I have played a few times recently at the Frog, River Club, Stonebrook in Rome, and Woodmont. I would ike to play some other places too.

I think I piked up a game at Cartersvill CC on Saturday, that will be a first there.

Who'd you pick up a game with there??? That's my home club...

Really liked Cartersville CC, it was in great shape. Great old style layout. There were some crazy people out the on the range at 3:00 when we left beating golf balls in the 100* heat....that is dedication.

I had some issues on the front nine and shot a 40, I made double from dead middle of the fairway on 2 and blocked it dead out of bounds on I think 6, the hole that runs next to the road. I got hot on the back nine and ended up with a 73.

I played a tournament about a month ago there. It's a really nice course. It has some fairly tight driving holes. I liked Sugarloaf better.

I have heard both...some people who like River club better...and others who like Sugarloaf better....ironically those who liked Sugarloaf better were all members at Sugarloaf...I am just hoping to try the River Club out for myself someday...that and Atlanta Athletic Club.

I am sure that you will like them both. Sugarloaf just suited my eye better. That and I shot better at Sugarloaf.

Sugarloaf was not in very good condition because they were trying to recover from the damage done just a month before with the AT&T. If you get the chance to play either, you surely will not be disappointed.

I have never played Sugarloaf, but I sure would love to get out and play it....along with Atlanta AC, Eastlake, Dunwoody, ect....

I will see what I can do about River Club, I doubt I can do anything since I only get on when I am invite out. I just like it b/c it is always in great shape.

I still would like to try and catch up with some folks and play.

I am usually free on the weekends of you ever want to play. I live out in Villa Rica and don't mind traveling if I have to. I am not the best golfer but I don't play slow.

not a bad round at the CCC...sure you're talking blocking it on about 6--the par 5, that fence can come into play more often for good players than you'd think (I think it has to do with the fact that it opens up from the trees over there...kinda wind related, but almost like there's a magnet over there!

I've met your buddie...know Nan Marie pretty well, but not familiar with the guy you played with.

What'd you think about the condition? The greens are TONS slower and TONS less slick this year than in years past...gotta attribute it to the excessive watering they've done to keep the as "grassy" as they are despite the lack of rain.

If you ever wanna get on there again, just shoot me a PM...I'm out there pretty much every day--hitting balls or playing!

Maybe it was 7...it was a Par 4 with a fence up the right side....it was awesome. #6 just lines you right up the right side. I actually made a birdie there, and then backed it up with a double.

The course overall was in really good shape. The greens were a little slow, but that is to be expected given the 100 degree heat. They were watering them all through the day. I think I finally got used to the speed on the back nice, hence the 3 birds.

I really liked the layout, and it felt like home with the Bermuda rough.

yeah, 7 is the par 4 that runs entirely parallel to the road. 6 is a MUST BIRDIE hole for a good round...the back 9 is definitely easier to play sub par than the front. the stretch of 10, 11, 12 is a great chance to start at 3 under for the outward 9.

The greens were rolling EXTREMELY quick last year...but to have them in such great shape despite the weather this year, I can't complain that they're a little slow.

Glad you enjoyed it! We should get a group out there sometime...ANYTIME is fine with me if any of you guys want to try it out!

I'm in Downtown ATL.

Virginia Highlands area..

I usually play around the west side.. Douglasville, Villa Rica area.

West Pines and St. Andrews, the Lion, ect.

I'm a relatively new golfer, but I'm not slow, and want to play or hit the range often.

Anyone in the area, PM me sometime if you'd like to run 9 or 18 one day.

I work on the southside of town, so Canongate, Orchard Hills, and those are super close to me as well!

Hear, Hear. I can't make anything for Thanksgiving (out of town for the first time in years!) but I'm always up for a weekend game.

I'm a Canongate member (for now) but have been really disappointed with the membership and will probably drop it at the end of Nov.

PM or reply to this post Atlanta area golfers - I really enjoy playing solo but would like to expand my network of fellow competitors.

Favorite public courses:

Crystal Lake

Durham Lakes (Gotta play at non-peak times here, too many wanna be players here and dreadfully slow during peak times)

Coweta Club / Arbor Springs (just played it today and it is OUTSTANDING!)

Long Shadow (out by Lake Oconee - worth the drive)

Bear's Best

Adaptive Golf.....look out for the one-armed man:

Yeah, the courses are starting to dry up a little around here..

I usually play Oak Mountain Champ. GC, or St. Andrews out near Carrollton/D'ville.

I live down the street from East Lake, and play at Charlie Yates a little.

How is Arbor Springs? I know they've been re-working at area, I work near by there, in Newnan.

Arbor Springs is really good. Played it today - one of the worst rounds I've had this year :angry2: but my fault, not the course. Greens are some of the best I've seen all year. That and Crystal Lake are my favorites on the Southside.

Charlie Yates is great.
