LMTT has some good deals for the track from time to time.. Even though I think it's only $50 for a cart and 18.

I'm at Cartersville Country Club up 75 from downtown. Probably the nicest course north of atlanta--shape wise. There are many layouts I like equally as much or better, but for condition, you'd be hard pressed to find a better one.

 

Last winter we ran a $25 guest deal on Tuesdays, and if they do it again, a few of you guys need to come up and try it out.

 

We've built new back tees on a handful of holes to stretch it out a bit...as many know here it's a hell of a course with many professional players calling it home because of its condition and greens.

I played a college tournament there like 1 1/2 months ago and it was the nicest ive played in a long time. They rolled the grees every morning and were running like a 12. But that 14th hole that is like 480 is a beast, i loved it. Yea anytime they run that deal let me know i got a couple of friends on the team i could bring down.

Just to let the people in the Atlanta area know, there will be a longdrive tournament this Saturday at The Golf Junction driving range in Auburn Ga. Come on over to see some of the worlds longest hitters compete. Entry is free to watch, $250.00 to compete.

i like the way this thread is heading!!! Personally I say we wait until the grass greens up a bit, most places have aerified the greens in the past 2 weeks or so, so if we wait another few weeks, I think we could get into a course with green grass and great greens...

 

as for courses to play...

 

some of my personal favorite public access courses are Towne Lake Hills GC in Woodstock and RiverPines in Roswell...Both are very affordable and easy to get on, plus create a good challenge from any tee.

Any other suggestions?

Town Lake punched their greens this week (3/23 & 3/24). I like both of those courses - we could also hit Cobblestone or Woodmont or even Bentwater.

 

I'm game for anything.

 

This does sound good. We need someone to coordinate - I could volunteer if no one else wants to.

From the back tees, I feel my back cracking, hitting Driver, 4 or 5 iron...It's good i practice with long irons.

I can set up some times on the NE side. Chateau Elan, Sugarloaf, Hammers Glen and Chicopee Woods should all be in good shape in another two weeks or so and with the exception of Sugarloaf, all are very affordable.

The Tech club really isn't that bad...it sounds long, and its definitely not a short course, but I would say it plays a lot shorter than that 7500+. One of those holes on the back #13 is 510 yards as a par 4, and I have hit wedge in many times... its THAT far downhill...of course the next hole is a par 5 coming right back up that probably plays about 620 or so...

 

Anyways, hopefully this rain and a little warm weather of the next week will start to green all these courses up and get those greens smooth after most places have punched in the past 3 weeks or so. \

 

I personally work many weekend days, so hopefully I will be able to play!! however I think teh first thing we should do is set a date for this outing!

 

any ideas? I also vote for NOT Masters weekend!

Hey guys. Here is a tour in Atlanta that plays high end courses for a good fee and good payout. Its called opengolfatlanta.com. Check it out. Ams are welcome. The next event is at the Standard Club. If you have ever heard anything about that course it would have to be how great the greens are. Real fast and not one house on property. The unaccompanied guest rate for this course is $150. For $160 you get to play in a tournament and win some prizes!

 

Check it out. The event is on April 27th, a Monday.

Affiniti golf has some December specials at Echelon (Ga Tech Golf Course)...I think something like $59 during the week (Tues - Thu) and $79 Fri-Sun

I'd be in possibly in the spring, depending on the work schedule. Anything this time of year is kind of hectic for me because of the schedule at work. I'm in Cartersville as well. Was a member at Plantation, but cancelled the membership because I couldn't play enough due to work and a new baby to get my money's worth.

Yeah, the weather is a killer. Rain, or cold and windy.. and even then, the course is saturated!
