Great experience....it's just too bad that Arnie is not there anymore.

Enjoy and report back, please!

Agreed wish Arnie was still here. I am going to watch the tournament there pretty closely here in a few weeks and I also am sure there will be a number of nice tributes to Mr Palmer as well

I love staying at the lodge, kinda makes the experience for me. It was always special getting to run into Mr. Palmer back in the day. I'd stay on property, just my two cents.

Honestly the facilities are great. The golf course left a lot to be desired for me but that's just my opinion. Some of my friends loved it. You'll enjoy the experience one way or another. Lots of really fun courses in that area so I can give a few suggestions if you want to try other courses too.

I called bay hill back in December to add golf onto our stay and they said they don't reserve times for singles and to call back in march or april (will call next week) to see if there is another guest to pair me up with. I really want to play bay hill but if for some reason I can't I am open to some suggestions in a similar area. I will only have time for one round of golf in florida as this is an anniversary trip with the wife and she does not golf but does like to drive the cart

Bay Hill is not a huge resort. I was there last July when they were remodeling the course. I have a hard time thinking you won't get a tee time unless they have an event. The resort itself is a nice cozy old style lodge. I remember they have a good restaurant and a pub style bar/club. We got there like at 11pm and it was all quiet, we only saw the receptionist. If you want something in the middle of the night you are kind of afar. But is a place that will provide you memories.

from what I have read technically yes you would have to stay at the lodge to play BUT I have also read that in June/July since it is so hot they may not be as busy so that you may be able to set up a tee time without staying but that doesn't seem like a certainty though. Depending on what days in June, my wife and I will be there on June 17th and the 18th so if you are there either of those days I may be able to get you on with us

The course and lodge are both a great experience.

If you can sneak away from the wife for a few minutes make sure you grab a beer in the mens locker room and walk around, it's pretty cool.

I second that. If Rick is working in the men's locker room have a beer and let him chat you up. He's an awesome guy! with a wealth of knowledge on the club and some great stories about Mr. Palmer and tour pros

I am hoping to stay one more day after our Vacation and play here while the wife does the spa! Playing Tranquilo on Monday and hoping to play here on Friday!

Booked hotel for Bay Hill in May. Kind of sad about the Forecaddie requirement at 100 bucks plus tip. Think that is crazy high for a forecaddie. My caddie at pinehurst # 2 was I think 65 plus 60 in tip.

from what I was told the forecaddie is only a requirement when it is peak season ? I believe it says from may-september that the caddies are not required. I hope this is correct as my wife likes to drive the cart and I like having her out there with me but she does not golf

I will for sure do this, the wife is pretty understanding of me wanting to take the whole Bay Hill experience in. She gets to do disney and I get to do bay hill so its a win win for us both lol

The below was the e-mail I got when I made the reservation. Sadly will be going in early May. Wife will probably do the Spa.

Forecaddies are required for non-members between Oct. 20th - May 25th. A cash fee of $100.00 is paid direct to the caddie by the non-member golfers (an additional gratuity is recommended).

Bummer, well from what I've read the staff is very friendly and helpful so maybe the caddie will be personable while still being a very good caddie and make up the difference in cost !

The $100 is divided between the threesome or foursome. In December when I played as part of a foursome, it was $25 each plus tip.

My recommendation for June is to get as early of a tee time reserved for guests as possible. You can almost set your clock for when the thunderstorms will hit.

Also I have always gone down as a single and never had a problem getting a tee time. Just keep checking. Once they get a guest tee time where they can add a person, they will add you to the tee sheet.

My group is a foursome so if $25 bucks a piece that is manageable/ respectable. If it is $100 plus tip for a forecaddie that seems very steep. I might ask the reservations specialist about the forecaddie pricing.

Just as TM Hoyer mentioned above about the forecaddie fee is correct.

I played Bay Hill in early December, and we had a threesome. We divided the $100 forecaddie fee and threw in an additional $20 each per person for tips. So it was $55 out of pocket for each of us.

I rode in golf cart, since I can not walk 18 holes.

You'll have fun any time of year guys! Even in this severe drought FL is in the BH course and amenities are top notch and a nice manicured green rather than brown or tan.

I had a great time at Bay Hill had to dodge some storms to get my round in but it was sunny an 90 degrees but so muggy out I was sweating from my ears !!! the course was in great shape, unfortunately they had just punched the front 9 a 10 days before and the back 9 the day before so the greens were basically impossible but other than that I had a blast and would play again for sure. As for the lodge it was wonderful, the room was nice and the bed was very comfortable
