High School Reunions

I am coming up on my 40th HS reunion.

 

 

Last one I attended as I am quite a ways from my home state was 20 yrs ago.

 

Remember way back when, when the golf team were a bunch of nerds or poor athletes? It is always fun to see who took up the game and have gotten good at it.

 

When I go back, I rarely find any competition and yes, I was on the golf team.

 

When you go back do you play with your class mates?

I've been to numerous high school class reunions. Our's was a big class (over 650) and they always have a golf tournament (scramble). I am almost always the only woman playing in the tournament & have won longest drive & closest to the pin a few times. The first time I signed up to play I could tell the guys were a bit shocked, but they soon got over it. They play my drive more often than not on the par 4's & 5's. I can tell you truthfully though, that the guys are SLOW (just like at my home club). :taunt:

Good times. Our home course hasn't changed (unlike us) we get together and reminisce, play 18 and toast. We laugh about our bald heads and creaking bones. But most of all we are grateful for times past and present. I'm thankful that the wrestling team doesn't want to have matches for old times sake...

Ours is always a good time.We had a big class....27 of us..we had gone to school together since the 1st grade.

15 girls...12 boys...Nam took a heavy toll...4 of them gone. Ageing is funny as we all laugh at the haircuts from back then..

the clothes...but the one thing that never changed....the music...we all still listen to the 60's/ 70's music' lol

the golf course near the old town is pretty much a pasture field,but we still enjoy it !

To the best of my knowledge only a few classmates play. Maybe a couple of spouses also. From what I've read on Facebook (I know, the horror), most don't play very much, or very well. I'll probably skip the reunion golf outing for our regular game.

The nerdy guys in high school sometimes turn out to be the most successful guys 30 yrs later. And by the same token, the skinny

girls none of the hot guys would look at in high school, get a lot of attention 30 yrs later. :taunt:

what shocked me the last time I was at one of these were all the guys I thought were losers that were in shop class. Last time I was home these guys were independent contractors building homes and stuff and were raking it in hand over fist. The crazy things we never thought were important growing up.
