Which one feels better to you?
i am looking for a putter similar in feel to the Scotty Cameron early model carbon steel putters (gun blue and oil can), which one of the 2 putters will feel more like this?, particularly the Newport 2 Studio Style v. Mizuno Bettinardi C-03 models. Thanks.

I was in the same situation, so i know how it is lol. My friend ordered a scotty newport off of ebay and after trying it i was in love. Then comes along the Mizuno C series... I ordered the C-02 straight away and fell in love, feels better than any scotty iv tried, the honeycomb face is art, looks better at adress and i feel as Bettinardi's are not as popular as scotty's which seem to be massed produced on a military level, the craftsmanship of the Mizzys are up to a higher standard. All that said, you cant go wrong with a scotty, but believe me, you wont be dissapointed with a Bettinardi. Even with all the scottys at my club, its my Bettinardi everyone pays attention to and makes a fuss over. Best of luck which ever you go for!

Thanks, I will go for the Mizzy Bettinardi C-03, love that thinner square profile, just wanted to know how it feels since I can't seem to find them here.

I tested them both against each other over several weeks and I could have picked up the SC just as quick as the MizBett C Series. The face on the Betty is what sold me and I love how clean or pure feeling the head is.

This is seriously a very very difficult choice. I am glad I am not you right now! :smilie_ping:

Hope you find what you like because you are hypothetically comparing apples to apples!

Thanks, glad to hear it is apples to apples, I think I'll go with the Mizzy C-03, I really like that simple sharp lines design and the face is beautiful.

i have an oil can newport and a mizunardi c-02h (heavy head version) and have stroked many putts with SC studio styles. the mizunardi is closer in feel to my OC and is actually softer in feel (surprising for a non-insert putter). i would go mizunardi as i'm not a fan of putters with inserts. but as already stated, it is definitely subjective.

if you like a heavier head, go with the "H" version of the C-series. the only "current" OTR scottys that aren't too light are the 34" and 33" studio styles and "deports". everything else is lighter than a stock mizunardi.

I have both SC Studio Stainless NP2 and Mizuno-Bettinardi C03H. The SC feels heavier. I putt equally well with either, just have to make sure they are soled properly, as they differ. SC seems a little softer and Bettinardi more clicky. You'll enjoy either one and the Bettinardi is going to be less expensive, but, less resale if you ho.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've owned a Cameron Studio Style Newport 2 and it was a love/hate relationship. The screws in the back wasn't a favorite thing of mine, but it never really bothered me as much as it does others on this forum.

My big complaint was that I found dead spots in the putter where I just couldn't get the feel and distance control was lost. Can't explain where it came from (insert, maybe??)...but I'd be putting lights out and then the next day I couldn't get it close to the hole.

It's good putter...but I think for my $$, I'd prefer a non-insert Scotty model. So for this comparison, I'd go with the Mizuno/Bettinardi (they are great putters)...you can't go wrong with a Bettinardi!

I use to own both, but in the end sold them both, because I now use the "REAL THING" - a Bettinardi Double Aged Stainless Steel putter.

If I had to choose, I would probably get the Mizunardi over the Scotty, but it's close.

In favor of Scotty Studio Style:

1. A bit softer feel, if you prefer that

2. Better resale value

3. More hype, because everyone knows what a Scotty is, only a few know Bettinardi (is this a negative or a positive thing......hummmmm)

In favor of the Mizunardi:

1. A more elegant simple classic design, no screws and colored dots and other clown stuff....

2. A totally square honeycomb face

3. You know you probably are the only one using this putter in your local club.....
