How's Grove Park?

 

After playing the last two days up here in Michigan, we got bombed with 6 inches of snow today and the 10 day doesn't show anything above the low 40's. Sadly my next round will probably be in Asheville. I'm super pumped for it though!

 

Haven’t played there yet. Golfnow has some decent hot times for the course, but unfortunately they don’t apply to single players.

It's a pretty solid course, with a good bunch of par 3's. The hotel expansion forced some compression of the course overtime, so in some places it does feel a bit cramped. All in all, you could do a lot worse. If you have club connections, have your pro call and see they can set up a round at Biltmore Forest, that's a really good course.

I'd throw either of our 2 courses in the mix. Both are around 45-50 minutes from Asheville. You can play either from around $35 senior/military and $39 after 1pm. Very affordable and highly rated.

Cool, good to know. The only person I saw was some chick in the pro shop. What a weird set up with the range. I almost got lost trying to find it, lol.

Yeah I text him last night and he was off yesterday lol. Yeah it’s an adventure but you should come off that hill on the range in neutral or a snow sled!

Played Grassy Creek couple weeks ago, great shape for early in the year cheap public course and at 25 bucks cant beat it!

Played a few holes at Maggie Valley yesterday and its as always in great shape. Greens were a little slow but that is par for this time of year. Hopefully you guys will check this thread this week and maybe next saturday we could arrange an outing somewhere!

School is done and I am ready to get golf started!!

Played Mt. Mitchell on Sunday. Pretty wet after all the rain, but other than that the course was gorgeous. Cart path only year round, so I’ll defintely be walking next time.

Yeah walking the front isn’t terrible but that back is where it gets rough. I like the layout of that course, just hate the greens and hate cart path only.

 

We still gotta find a Saturday or Sunday we can get together!

Just started a new job a few months ago after moving up here from FL, and I only have every other weekend off. It’s been rough on the golf schedule lol

Are there any golf resorts near Asheville? Pinehurst/Mid Pines are all a little far away to convince my wife to join me for a weekend so I can golf and she can do massages/pool.

Is there ever a time of the year where room rates aren’t like $400/night? We were looking at staying there for a weekend, but that would be a quick 2 grand between the room, couple rounds and couple massages lol

Myself and my wife were the first to tee off this morning at Reems Creek...only to make the turn and find a 6some and twosome on hole 10. Management didn’t care in the slightest. Last time I’m playing there for a very long time.

Agreed. I wish my weekend work schedule wasn’t so sporadic, playing alone is getting boring!!
