Fabb is he using your buddy to take lessons. How much is the LM helping in this process?

Yeah, my buddy came down and we did the lesson at my house actually.

The Trackman was there mainly just to monitor where the ball flight started, and the effects swing changes were having on it. It's not like my buddy was over there studying the Trackman numbers looking for the answer. For a reference, he had 2MT hitting some normal shots to get a baseline at the start of the lesson and watch his swing. 2MT was aiming where directly down range was considered to be, and every single shot was 40 yards left of center line. He finished the lesson up hitting balls with a segmented type swing drill, and every single ball was flying right down the center line.

After observing last night, I'll double down on my appreciation of his blend of using the tech for feedback, as opposed to some kind of diagnostic tool with all the answers. He actually didn't take videos of 2MT's "before" swing and show them to him, because he keyed in on how 2MT can get kind of mental micro-dissecting himself.

i'm going to put something together at lunch, but when it actually came to instructing me he didn't reference the trackman once. he mostly just shared the observations with FABB. he wanted me to feel body positions vs. trying to make contact and hit shots. that would lead me back to what's comfortable and effective vs. working meticulously on the changes

I had the GP Z Grip cord for a long time. Hard to think there's a rougher grip out there.

I like the Lamkin UTX cords espcially when they are $3 a piece or so. I regrip twice a year so it does cut down on the cost a bit.

Second the recommendation on the Lamkin Gripes, I buy them off Amazon and they are pretty cheap.

I can't believe I forgot about the z-cords. They aren't a true full cord grip, BUT they do last forever. Great grip, but very very firm. I used those for a full year, oily hands and all.

I dont know if they are technically cords but GP calls them the Z Grip Cords. They are rough as hell and definitely firm.

Same here, I used them for @ one season. Probably would still use them if I hadnt found a good cheaper way to go.

You should try the Lamkin Grip Wipes if you don’t want to clean them often. One wipe should do a couple grips. They smell like they’ve got rubbing alcohol in them. That’s what we used to clean the oil off of our bowling balls back when they were urethane and not resin. I got a pack of the wipes a couple years back when they were blowing out The I Lines.

This is good info. Didn't know they existed. Plus the rubbing alcohol will give you a clean injection site before mainlining fentanyl. I like it.

Is it bad that I pretty much never change my grips?

Yes.

IMO anyone that practices or plays as much as most in the thread do should be regripping at least once a year.

Add another vote for Lamkin Crossline Full Cords. I think Tour Velvet full cords are a close second, but I feel like the TV rubber is softer/thicker so it doesn’t make the grip feel as harsh.

The Ping grips don't really feel any different to me from when I first got them. The clubs aren't slipping out of my hands are anything. I guess I'll think about getting them re-gripped, though.

The real rule is "regrip when you feel like it". It's totally personal.

If the club is slipping, or if it's not slipping but you just don't feel confident in gripping the club, then regrip.

I think once a year is barely necessary, and I play a ton. Obvs, YMMV. I've played with guys with totally slick grips. They seem fine.

I do like the feel of a new grip. If I was a pro, I'd ask for new grips every tournament.

Also, it's not very expensive in the grand scheme of things and sometimes I'm just looking for something to do with my clubs on a rainy day.

so let's start with the old impact. i was very very flippy. that's hard to time and hard to make good contact with.

2cqb3f6.png

why? he keyed in on something small and pretty simple: my right arm action. check out how rigid the right arm is. no "softness". no bend.

os9yq9.png

that caused me to eventually flip it over to way laid off (reality is that this pic was slightly before the back of my back swing. one correction i had was that i took the club from here to less laid off. but that was a "video" fix and didn't actually change anything in my swing)

rif2n8.png

he also felt that part of my right arm problem was related to my setup. my hands were too low and i was too bent over.

Obviously I cant quantitatively prove it but if you are playing totally slick grips I think logic would say you are gripping the club harder than you would be if it was a new grip. And that much firmer grip IMO can lead to a whole host of other issues.

Not to say someone couldnt "seem fine" with them.

so what's he looking for?

he wants me more upright and without a preset c0ck in my wrists. something like this

xmo0ll.png

and then, THIS IS THE IMPORTANT THING. he wants me to go back to parallel with no manipulation of the hands and with a soft bent right arm. draw a picture of a rod through my elbow and it's pointing in a wildly different direction from the photo above. something like this

w2lj69.png

and then very simply rotate to the top

2q9z2bn.png

the new setup should help my back. (!!!) the key to all the other changes is to require way way way less hand manipulation AKA flip through impact. it's way way simpler. so he wants me to go to parallel back PAUSE turn to the top PAUSE about 10000x times. rumor has it i did some this AM

@ means "at" to me.

DC seems to use it as "about", I think.

He's the only person I know who does that. It took me a while to figure it out.

DC -- you might be right about sub-conscious tight gripping. I don't know. It's a good theory.

Domes, they make the zcord in midsize, and it's actually a little less firm than the standard. It weighs a lot though, so SW might be of concern. If you use midsize in other grips, then probably will be of no consequence, though.

I understand this, but I don't think it means that much to me. I feel as though this would be something I would subconsciously adjust to immediately.

My JPX 800 pros all have midsize on them...I don't use them anymore. My wedges have midsize on them, but they need to be replaced before I change the grips on them. My irons/3w/3h/driver all have regular on them, but it's time to get back on that midsize train, son.

Interesting note on the Bulle Rock price drop - to $4.75M.

One of the selling points is potential for more housing developments on the golf course.

Four year average revenue is only $3.4M a year and I'm guessing thats a downward trend or else they would say what it was last year.
