If I'll ever consider gettting another new set of irons, this perked my interest.

Love that muscle band across the back of the head, kinda like the Old MacGregor .

Yeah those are nice. They have a bunch of other time proven designs as well. I just wonder what the price is for a set. Gotta be 1500+

I hope not that expensive, there is no high tech stuff to justify for astronomical number on a set of golf club used to hit golf balls.

The design and R & D is nil or minimal, no middleman and huge mark up for tour sponsorship.

Why, I'd be surprised if it goes over 4 digits for a set of 8 heads. They can mark the price point high and sell less until the fairy tale bust, or they could sell quality stuff at a competitive pricing to get more sets out there for the word of mouth advertising.

 

I wonder if it'll be good enough for some of the Tour Players to bag it without endorsement, like the Hogan brand used to be.

The price is in the labor. They receive heavy blades and have to take off 150+ grams and do all the grinding by hand. They're bound to be expensive.

What baloo said: almost completely hand made. Plus, yes the quality of the work is good enough for tour players. Heck Don White has ground several sets that won Majors.

Certainly hand crafting took time thus overhead will go up. It'd better plot out their marketing well and not follow so many before it which could not meet the break even line to survive. Does Don has plan to accept apprentice to work under his direct supervision ?

I figures for a healthy start off volume with 20-30 minutes per head , no less than 5-7 workers at the work station 8-10 hours a day to produce the initial minimum volume.

Not many has a huge financial backing to sustain the first 1-3 years.

 

I wish they'll be around for a long time.

Agreed. There's one reminiscent of the old Mac "Winged" MT's that's quite tasty. See a lot of Mac design in the offerings.

 

Now that I've read the front page story and understand the origination of this thread. The Scratch guys back in the business of making irons. Visited the Scratch storefront once, when I discovered who and what they were about. Was local. Very cool. Although I was afraid to touch, let alone swing any of the merchandise. Even though they offered. Didn't want to embarrass myself.

 

File under "If you have to ask the price" though. Polar opposite from our thrift store finds.
