I think you need a certain mind set to appreciate older clubs.

I like old stuff, full stop. It has much more character and is usually much better made, you can see the craftsmanship in it.

I use old cutlery, an old beer glass, old tools, etc, etc, so when I came across vintage golf it was love at first sight.

 

One thing I think that prevents many from having a go is that the marketing for modern clubs, and that's all types of clubs from putters through to drivers, has made people think that they wouldn't be able to play with a vintage club that doesn't have the latest wonder features to help them out.

 

On another forum I made a quick list of some of the terminology being used by manufacturers in their 2018 driver offerings:

Might be amusing to put a set of clubs together that covered all 15 of these ... the ultimate "tech" set LOL. At least for 2018 anyway !

Did some culling myself

Bunch of loose clubs and about 20 sets of irons

Over 2000 balls and stacks of unused gloves

That went to a charity that will forward to Marines

Who are getting lessons and introduced by a local pro

 

One bag had 12 sets of Cleveland your action blades

I wasn’t sure they’d want those but was told they’d be great

 

Now I gotta figure out best way to deal with some of the other stuff!!!

Hope they can use most. Was told about 80% or so will be useable!!

Took the honours this past Saturday by beating my 3 mates with my Hogan frankin set ... They have all the latest and greatest ... What hurts them the most is that my E wedge shaft bent on the first nine and I still hit my approach shots close! Up to know had to hear all about my crappy old Hogan's! Since you guys are culling... Anyone got an Apex Edge pro 4 iron? Also looking for a Hogan 1 iron which ideally is a 1999 Apex

Even though I got rid of a bunch this spring, I have since added about one dozen. (And barely broke a $20 bill doing it.)

I never cease to be amazed at the sort of finds you guys can come up with for spare change. There's nothing like that around these parts and anything of quality is often gone in a heart beat at eBay type pricing!

 

I don't have that much, but with a new reality setting in I've got triple what I need or could realistically make use of and that's assuming I can make my way back to the course at some point this season. There's no market for vintage up here so I'm left to either giving it away or trying to flog it on eBay. Time to make some tough decisions because I don't want to be faced with moving anymore than I have to.
