Club Corp Houston YEX

There is a chance I may be relocating to the South East Houston area for work in the near future. From my preliminary research it looks like the private club options in that area are kind of limited.

Club corp YEX looks like a possibility. My home club would probably be South shore / Mangolia. Any thoughts on those courses or the YEX program would be appreciated.

Magnolia is better in my opinion. It is a links style course that has 27 holes and some of the best greens in the city.

I’ve been a member at Mag creek now for probably 8 years. Like the previous post stated it is a 27 hole Lynx course that is always in great shape. Fast greens and great fairways. Huge driving range with an excellent putting green and a 100 yard and in practice area with bunkers. You can’t go wrong playing here.

Isn't Bay Oaks Club Corp? Its a great course. I am not a member, but played a couple of times. Recently played and the course was great. With great greens.

It is club corp. It is not part of YEX though, I'd be interested in peoples thoughts on it as well.

Spark are you or have you been a YEX member at any point? Any thoughts on the program?

I,m 60 years old so YEX isn't an option for me. I'll just say that anytime I've played a Club Corp course they are in great shape. Also anytime you travel there are multiple courses in different states that you can play for pretty cheap.

Bay Oaks is club corp and has a YEX program, currently running specials for their 30th anniversary. Something along the lines of $1000 initiation fee and $330 per month.

Played Bay Oaks on Monday and it was in good, not great shape. Greens were really in good shape. They just had the women's D3 golf championships there though. Not sure what it looks like the rest of the year. I know CC Members around the state who don't like the new owners of the company and have expressed concerns about them cutting corners in an effort to save money. But that's a common problem with private equity owned clubs. Buyer beware...
