Call it a mid-golf life crisis.

 

She/they were hot. Sleek lines and begging to be held. A true temptress. We flirted and then I left my spousal irons behind, got fitted and moved in with the new forged vixen..

 

But after the initial infatuation things weren't going well. Not bad, just consistently inconsistent dates on the course. In the harsh light of day we weren't a good fit. Sure, we tried. We kept at it knowing that we had put too much cash and effort into taking the plunge in the first place, but still, it wasn't working and now it just felt forced.

 

I went home. My 765's were still there waiting. The first few moments were tentative. Just a few practice swings in the yard. The comfort of familiarity was reassuring and last night we spent an evening together on the course. An 8 iron from 150 to a nice birdie look. A 4 iron from the 1st cut to a wedge on a par five. We were getting reacquainted with the ease of old friends who share a lot of history. A 6 iron to within a foot of the pin on a 174 yard par 3 sealed the deal. I'm moving back home if the 765's will have me.

Grass always seems greener on the other side but I've been there right along with you but I fouled up and parted ways with the older, tried and true set when the shiny ones showed up. Ended up being very expensive and not pleasurable.
