Week 5 Lines for picks

Thursday Night

Indy at New England -10 1/2 51 1/2

Sunday

Baltimore -3 at Cleveland 47

Jacksonville at KC -3 49

Tenn -3 1/2 at Buffalo 39

NY Giants at Carolina -7 44 1/2

Denver at NY Jets -2 1/2 42 1/2

Atlanta at Pittsburgh -3 57

Green Bay -1 at Detroit 51

Miami at Cincy -6 1/2 49 1/2

Oakland at LA Chargers -5 1/2 53 1/2

Arizona at San Fran -4 41

Minnesota at Philadelphia -3 44 1/2

LA Rams -7 at Seattle 51

Dallas at Houston -3 1/2 45 1/2

Monday Night

Washington at N. Orleans -6 1/2 52 1/2

I had to delete my first pick for some reason I thought Miami was getting 6.5 at home. After further review, the ruling on the field has been changed LoL I think Houston's defensive front is good enough to hold Elliott to a reasonable amount of yards. Not sold on Dallas playing a cross-town rival. DeShaun will have plenty of weapons to make this game a win for the Texans at home. Lamar Miller sucks as a running back but DeShaun moves nicely to avoid rushers. Taking the Texans -3.5

"Well alrighty then" Channeling my Pet Detective Tarzan yell I am calling on the Detroit Lions to beat the cranky bitching Aaron Rodgers who hates that brace and dislikes the coach Mike McCarthy. Rodgers must know it is the coach who has kept him from numerous trips to the Big Dance. One of the most overrated coaches in the NFL. I put him in the same boat as Jeff Fisher and John Fox, outdated and should all be retired permanently. That said Rodgers needs to keep his complaining to himself. Give me the improving Lions +1

"My Name is, My name is, My Name is Slim Shady" Two running backs have yet to hit it big this year. Everyone saw the rookie in Buffalo possibly play the worse game you will ever see a QB play this year. I have to believe the Bills returning to Buffalo after two away games will play sturdy defense against the pass but may struggle against the run. D Henry might get on track in this game. The same could be said about Shady McCoy for Buffalo. A lot of overs have hit lately and that is when I buy the under. Vegas is posting 57 on the Atlanta at Pittsburgh game I think that is crazy but I am not picking that game. I think Buffalo plays pressure defense on Mariota while they try to get Shady more involved 3 weeks removed from his injury. Give me the Under Tenn at Buffalo 39

There they are, I went against the grain I doubt these are going to be the most picked bets at the casino but I want to make this fun when I hit or not. So Go Skins on Monday night in my other pool I have New Orleans but would gladly be wrong in exchange for a win! Not happening though.

Week 5 Picks

Ok I snagged a win on Thursday night with a Patriots double digit cover. +1

my other plays for week 5

L.A. Raiders + 5 1/2 Chucky has turned this thing around somewhat. Raiders have a potent offense. Heck 2 great rb"s.

Yet San Diego whoops L.A. Chargers Defense is weak , quite weak. Raiders could take this outright.

Rule # 3

don't involve YOUR team in a pick.

F -------it !

I'll take my Skins monday night in the MB Dome.

Washington + 6 1/2

It's about two things.

1. The Redskins defense, now that all key starters are back and healthy, is very good. The Saints Defense is a "who dat " sucks group. lol

2. Veteran NFL QB's after a bye are quite often a solid play in betting. wink so that means pick Alex.

Whoops I blew that Raiders pick. I see a few others here did as well.

Oh and I blew it when I forgot to put up (like most of you probably dislike) a NFL Cheerleader with my picks.

I shall make up for it now. Tomorrow nights game is in New Orleans. So here

Oakland + 5.5: It was either this or ATL/PIT Over.I like the points here. Tha Raaaiiiiiiders (Best Berman Voice) win/cover.

Minnesota +3: Not a fan of Philly's secondary, huge fan of Minny's WR. I see them having a big day. Wentz doesn't seem to be 100% yet. Vikings win/cover.

Ok, another 2 out of 3 week. Not bad but when you miss last week, after hitting 2 picks, by 1 point giving 5 and winning by 4, and hitting 2 this week only to miss the third by a half a point. What's next a push? I hate ties.

I am often up visiting with my elderly parents and they are big fans of Ellen DeGeneres and when the show ends she signs off by saying "Anyway" So I borrow that remark after this little rant and just say "Anyway"

Cleveland impressed me a lot last week. so I'm going with them at +3 over the Ravens

The Rams have been killing it for me IRL so I'm going to keep riding this horse til it drops, -7 over the sea chickens

And finally, SF -4 over the lowly cardinals. Even without Jimmy G., Shanahan sure knows how to put a good game plan together

TLDR Week 5 Recap:

CLE +3

LAR -7

SF -4

Let's Go!!!

1-2 this past weekend... yuck!

Season total is 7-7-1. Back to .500

Moving forward I think most of the NFL is the NFC East. But all you need is some lighter fluid and a match and we can call it a dumpster fire. I am leaning towards the Cowboys all of the sudden. Sooner or later Garrett will figure out passing the ball to Elliott in space is a big weapon. He might not but if he does, the Cowgirls win the East going away. Going for it on 4th and one in OT is also "a good thing" says, Martha Stewart.

GMen have more problems than Manning, their defense is terrible and they can not block...but at least they pass the ball to Barkley.

Eagles are really banged up and have running back issues. Wentz will be asked to carry the team on his back. I do not think they have the weapons in the offense to sustain a winning streak.

Redskins have no real offensive identity and their secondary is a mess, they did not get pressure on Brees, and this might be a template for other teams that play them moving forward. Josh Norman is a system CB who thinks he is a celebrity and he might get benched soon. I hate to say this because I know their schedule gets easier later in the season, but by then it might be too late. Smith has no chemistry with his receivers we shall see if that improves Smith cannot throw deep because his receivers do not get separation, and why is Reed not being featured more??? He is their best weapon.

For my Dear friend Touch and all Redskins fans who think Cousins was not worth resigning to a new deal. How many passes did Alex Smith throw to receivers in 2014?

No Tyreek Hill to catch and run. The answer is not one that Skins fans want to see. I know he is not as bad as he looked Monday Night but he will not sling it down field when we are behind and at least give us hope for a comeback.

On October 14 (this upcoming Sunday), 1322 Robert the Bruce signed the papers with England to free Scotland. In 1881, Robert Ferguson won the 21 Open Championship with a score of 170. In more recent news, I tuned in to watch sex, drugs, and rock n roll, but it wasn't American Bandstand, it was C-Span, and one thing resonated with me, "I love beer." And with that backdrop, here are the picks.

280 years after the freeing of Scotland, and just about the time I played Prestwick, the Greatest Show on Turf arrived. If you don't remember, Isaac Bruce was a beast of a receiver. He and Dick Vermeil released the Rams from the glory days of Lawrence McCutcheon and Vince Ferragamo. The new version doesn't appear to have Isaac Bruce, but in sticking with the theme of famous Roberts or Bruces, the pick has to be Rams over the hapless Broncos covering the spread. Even in the thin air of Mile High, Sammy Winder isn't coming back, nor is Tyrell Davis.

In honor of my time in Scotland, I have to pick the Arizona game. The reason isn't completely clear, but just know i do. Over the course of the round I found myself in the Cardinal Bunker (the largest bunker in Scotland and on Prestwick) twice, on different holes even. It was not a banner golf day, but my drunk caddie made up for any poor shots I had. On subsequent visits we did some sightseeing, and of course, a guy has to make his was over to Bannockburn, the sight of the famous Robert the Bruce battle in Scotland. Now, you can brave the elements and walk to the tiny creek where thousands were slaughtered (which we did), you can stand in front of the statue of Robert the Bruce on a horse (which we did), and you can go into the information center and try on medieval armor and helmets (which we totally did). The kids who were doing the same thing thought it odd that grown ups would partake in such an endeavor, but for those willing to put themselves out there, they do have adult sizes. Have I mentioned I love beer? Anyway, onto the pick. I don't like the line at all, if the Vikings win by 11, I think the score has to be the over, but if I pick the over I am relying on Kirk Cousins to put up a lot of points in a laugher. So, I am torn, but reflecting on my time in the Cardinal Bunker and the incredibly poor golf I played on that day, I will pick the Over for the game... but I don't like it.

Laslty, the tour is in Kuala Lumpur, which means Muddy River but it is also where two rivers meet. Sound familiar. The Mon and the Allegheny form the Ohio in Pittsburgh which then runs into Cincinnati. So, it isn't just on the field that Pgh has essentially given the Queen City its identity, it goes back to very formation of the continent. Thats why I am picking the Steelers to cover, and possibly win outright. Without Gio I just don't think the Red Rifle gets it done IF and this is the big if, the Steelers feed Conner the ball early and often. Ben has, since he arrived in the league, been much better when the team is able to keep the play calling about equal. Antonio Brown has shown he can throw as well, though he seems to be more a warm weather QB, but I like the Steelers here.

Have a great week everyone.

(on the season I am 10-5)

ok, so my buddy who's a rams fan told me to never pick them to cover in a divisional game... so that's my bad for lastwek and it also means I'm taking the -7 at Denver because its the Rams and it's also Casey Keenum

I like Cincy -2.5 vs the Steelers as it looks like their coach will probably be looking for a new job next year if he can't turn this team around because they're slowly turning into a dumpster fire.

For some reason believe the Raiders/Seahawks game is going to go over (47.5)

TLDR Week 6 Picks:

LAR -7

CIN -2.5

OAK/SEA over 47.5

Um,

My friend I wanted Kirk Cousins signed to a long term deal. What made you think I didn't? I just said Alex Smith was a fine acquisition after the fact that the useless owner didn't lock Kirk down long term.

Interesting stats on the link, and for that thanks. Cousins can nail the downfield long ball with some ease.

Just like the ol' boob Rypien could. lol

Could be worse though.

this nut job could still be behind center.

Monday Night

Washington at N. Orleans -6 1/2 52 1/2

The Ravens beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh by 12, so, surely they should beat the Browns by more than 3... right?... I mean, it's the Browns... but it's also the Ravens. Pass

As much as it pains me to say this, I think the Bengals are for real this year... or at least for the next 13 weeks.

Cincy -6.5

The Chiefs are 4-0 against the spread*, so far. 3 points doesn't seem like a lot at home, even vs the Jags.

KC -3

New England vs Indy. Average game score for both teams is 46.5. I'll take the under - 51.5 .

*- Disclaimer: Evidently not, using spreads given here - not sure what source was used. Maybe game time.

Jags/Cowboys 40.5 Over

Jags-Cowboys: Both teams have underperformed vs the O/U in all situations. Both teams have top 5 scoring defenses and poor scoring offenses. <sigh> 40.5 points, though.
