Prescott AZ courses and clubs

We are interested in moving to Prescott. Actually we are here now for the weekend and are going to look around. We drove by Antelope Hills yesterday. It looked a little rough but was busy. Looking for reviews and recommendations especially for membership clubs, but also for public.

 

Are any of them walkable?

 

Any good course communities we should check out?

I'm short on time to give a full rundown right now, but check out Capital Canyon Club. Your other course options in the area are basically Stoneridge (difficult but enjoyable IMO), Club at Prescott Lakes, Prescott Golf & CC, Antelope Hills (muni courses), and some basic course whose name I forget on the other side of 69 from Prescott Golf & CC. Antelope Hills courses are by far the most walkable, Prescott Golf & CC is walkable but I didn't see anyone walking when I played,

I personally enjoyed it, but agree that it is unwalkable. At Stoneridge I only got to play about 6 holes in a shotgun before we got rained out, but from what I saw, I would consider that course unwalkable as well.

I enjoy the heck out of Capital Canyon Club but there’s no way I could be a member there because it is pure cart ball. Lot of fun holes out there though. I’d compare to Silverleaf in that way (courses that are a blast to occasionally but I’d never be interested in joining). Stoneridge OTOH is terrible IMO. Totally tricked up in the worst way possible. I’ve only played there once though.

 

I don’t know of a private in Prescott that is truly meant to be walked. You could do it at PCC or Lakes but I’ve never seen it at either.

Haven't played it (in fact I never even heard of it until your post inspired me to look it up) but their community website states "Walking the course is not only permitted but encouraged, with short distances between greens and the next tee."

Good call. That's another course that I like but always escapes my mind for another reason (Mesa CC is the other).

CCC is the former Hassayampa? If so...ick. Small footprint created awful routing.

It is and you're right about the routing but there are some fun holes. I'd compare to Sunridge.

Talking rock is good for walking...the elevation changes are not that bad.

 

Prescott Lakes is a very good course and is walkable too.
