If I cut down g400 max from 45.5 to 44.5 what weight would I need?

is the only difference with swing weight feel? or are there other characteristics of the club changed like distance or dispersion when go to a different club? i tried a 3 wood shaft (75g) in my driver (normally has 62g) and kind of liked it.

You cant assume the same swingweight at 45.5 will feel same at 44.5.....made that mistake more than once

I would use lead tape to get the feel you want than order the corresponding weight

Great point Dunn, Just saw a video from WRX staffer Ryan Barath where he measured CPM and frequency from two clubs with the exact SW but different lengths. Turns our the shorter club was 'stiffer' even with the same SW. So I guess whatever is more important for the OP - either static measurement or 'feel' .

I finally ordered a 12.5 gram weight for my G400 Max and put it in this morning before a round of golf. I liked the feel and hit it really well. I have read where people said the added weight made their ball flight higher but my flight was not affected.

10-12 grams but it depends on the shaft weight distribution.

Stock length = 45.75" - 44.5" = 1.25" shorter

For every half-inch you trim from a shaft you lost 3 SWt points. So, you will lost about 7.5 SWt points.
To regain 1 SWt point, you need to add 2 grams of headweight.
So, you would need increase head weight by 15 grams.
The heaviest G400 long-club weight is 18 grams. Not sure how many ounces in the G400 Max stock backweight.

You might want to check with a clubsmith to see what that extra weight would do to the launch of the drives. The heavier weight set in back of clubhead may increase spin and launch angle.

I had a failure with the adapter I installed on my Diamana Kai'li. I used some epoxy that I had for shaft extensions and also my shaft and adapter prep was slack and I had some slippage but it didn't turn loose. I decided to go ahead and cut the stock shaft Alta to 45"and give it another try. Went to the range Sunday and hit it really well. I was pleasantly surprised how much better the Alta felt shortening it to the same length I have played my Titleist drivers at. I have a buddy that is left handed that still plays an R9 that I wish would try a Ping G400 Max.

Small correction. It isn’t 2 grams per point on all clubs. Longer clubs it’s less. Shorter clubs its more.

Use 1.6 grams per swingweight point on a driver and 3 wood.

2 on mid irons.

A bit over 2 on short irons and wedges.

Hey Flip. This is exactly where I am at. I am thinking of cutting back the Alta 55 stiff shaft on my new G400 Max from std 45.75 to 45" as on a 915D2 I liked with Diamana S+ shaft. How has it continued to work for you and have you noticed much loss in distance?

Is it just me but when I measure the stock Alta shaft I get a total length of 45.5? Meaning if I want mine cut down to 44.5 I should cut off 1 inch not 1.25 inches. I know there are many different ways to measure a club but seems Ping measures them a little long compared to the rest of the industry. Thoughts?
