One reason to not expect it to lose too much is that it is sponsored by FedEx. The players will be "encouraged" by the PGA Tour to show up and make FedEx happy. I think those that are not in the FedEx Cup will be the ones to skip it.

In a better world, they'd move the current WGC Memphis to the week BEFORE the British Open and alternately play it in Ireland or Scotland. Everyone comes over and gets used to the time change and Europe gets a WGC. I'd like to see the WGC Match Play move to between The Masters and PGA. Maybe it could flip dates with the New Orleans team event.

The weather will be a non factor the weather is the same as new York city. I have lived in Toronto my whole life and it has never, in my lifetime of 30 years, snowed in June.

I will definitely be showing up for one day to watch Rory. Hamilton is a great course, will be nice to watch the pros play somewhere I have actually played before.

Buffalo is a s h i t h o l e.

The only snow in June will be if someone is going all retro CanCon and breaking out the Northern Pikes.

Looking forward to the non-Glenn Abbey event this year!

Have to agree for what it's worth. Big sponsorship to be had from RBC as some of their players are winding down their careers

And I've never heard of it seen snow in Ontario in June.

It'll be interesting to see how he performs too. Weaker field event you'd expect him to dominate but it rarely happens.

I'm from the Hamilton area - think that the early June might be a bit friendlier humidity-wise. A few ticks cooler than mid-July with a bit less of the GTA humidity would be excellent. Looking forward to seeing Hamilton again.

that would require a move for the scottish open ... not sure they want to do that, but i do agree there needs to be a wgc event over there ... would like to see one on a parkland course in england, or a links course not on the Open rota ... 2 wgc events is more than enough ...

I went to St. Georges one year a while back that it wasn't at the Abbey. I loved St. Georges but I found it not as fan friendly as GA. I am wondering if you or someone would chime in on how fan friendly Hamilton might be. I found St. Georges to have elevated greens for instance that made it hard to view putts. I know I went to Warwick Hills several times when the old Buick open was played there and to me anyways it was one of the best viewing courses for the fan.

Funny, lots of your fellow countrymen from Southern Ontario seem to visit for shopping, eating, and watching hockey games.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It won't be like Abbey in terms of sightlines, that is for sure. That's just in part to the course design. Narrower and playing through trees on some holes, so it lacks those spectator-friendly mounds and slopes. The one thing they have going is that the un-used East Nine gets used for tournament infrastructure (shop/amenities/etc.) so that doesn't affect the flow on the course. In 2012, I stuck around the back 9 (the South nine) because it was a bit easier to get around from hole to hole. The Front 9 (West nine) starts off around the practice range and is moreso on the backside of the property, that's probably the best place to set up shop if you're looking to avoid some of the crowds.
