Yes he did and played awful with that GAPR last year. All over the place with it.

Wonder if the new one is any more forgiving? It looks pretty similar.

Wondering the same here, although this is a driving iron, I hope there may be slightly improve turf interaction. I am currently building a 5w to use from a similar distance to my 790UDI. I have a really hard time picking it clean from the fairway, but off the tee it’s an absolute rocket launcher and is very forgiving for me.

True - got a 5w this year as well. Main difference will be trajectory on when I pull 5w vs 2i.

I think shaft choice is important with the UDI. My last 790 UDI I tried a modus 120 for the first time. Needless to say that was not the shaft for me. I had 1 good day with the club, and the UDI flat out launched the ball out there. Excited for the next Gen.

The top line is bigger, club face is higher, overall club size increased all over by a tiny bit. It maintains the spirit of the v1 p790 udi but some complained it was too slim and tough to play off turf.

I love mine like many others. Best 2i off tee ever for me. Really like this new version too. Another big year for driving irons coming up. U500 is perfect too.

Hoping TM releases the #3 UDI again too this time

So many I'm just being dense, but this one looks identical to the previous model just with a TaylorMade "T" on the toe instead of the script TaylorMade logo. I can't discern a difference - what makes this one different than the previous model?

Has anyone had success replacing the Hzrdus stock shaft with a shorter, heavier shaft? I was thinking that could make it easier to hit off the deck. I love the idea of a wider sole, I've been going back and forth between the UDI and a 17* hybrid; 2 iron on tight courses where I'll use it off the tee and hybrid on wide courses that I use the big dog off most of the tees cuz it's far better for shots into the green (long par 3's and par 5 approaches). A best of both worlds club would be, quite obviously, ideal.

I’d be interested to hear if anyone went with shorter heavier shafts as well to help hitting it off the deck. The stock length and HZRDUS shaft is a rocket off the tee for me, but I am adding an M6 5w too the bag this week to hand the off the deck shots. Just can’t get the consistency with the UDI off the deck. I don’t want to shorten the shaft as I don’t want to lose distance with it off the tee.

I have a C Taper X in it. to me it fits in perfectly for my set. no idea the length compared to the graphite shaft as I bought mine with Project X 6.5 steel and hated the feel of that.

I have KBS Tour Stiff on my UDI 2–iron. My irons are Project X 6.5 and I bought UDI off WRX, but feel like I should be fit for it like my irons. Sometimes it feels great, and others awful. I blame the shaft of course.
