Apex Hybrid Failure (v1)

Sad day. My favorite hybrid of all time (see sig). 5h is my money stick from 200-205, which is why I don't carry a 5i

Crack on the bottom near the face - see pic .... which I feel is a very unusual failure point

I hope Callaway still has some v1 heads in 26* kicking about

 

 

Anyone else have this issue?

Do you have a steep swing? Looks like you've ground out some meat from the bone there on that leading edge over the years from taking divots and etc. Maybe a few sand traps, too? it can't be all that thick so .02mm of material loss can cause a failure.

 

I'm sure theyll warranty it, maybe a Apex 19 head, though.

Always sad to lose a loved one. It shouldn’t be too hard to find a good head on eBay, then you can just have the shafts swapped

reminds me of my second fav solid hybrid shaft, project X hb7 in 97g, 7.0 flex

Had the same type of failure a few years back in an x hot pro 3 wood head. Didn't have the same amount of ground wear, but very similar crack. Callaway replaced with xr16 even though it was outside of 2 years. Good luck with the replacement ?
