The disparity between the dominance of US men's golf over Korea/Japan and the reversal situation on Women's golf presents a golden opportunity for current American stars.

The prevalence of Japan/Korea women golfers on Top-1000 Rolex ranking is the result of better overall financial support in those two countries.  But, it doesn't need to be that way because US is still by far the richest country on earth.

What the US needs is for women's golfers to consistently reaching the pinnacle of world's ranking and to provoke the national pride on women's golf.

It'll take 5-10 years to reverse the trend and it'll take younger stars like Jennifer Kupcho, Nelly Korda, Yealimi Noh, Rose Zhang and Alexa Pano to rise to the challenges.

They'll become superstars if they do that!

One can hope but today’s brand of athlete is not like the athletes of years past where sacrifice and focus were the driving force. Today’s athletes want to build their brand, run their social media accounts and have a life outside of sport. Nothing inherently wrong with that but all 3 of those things take away from focusing on being the best. The best example in golf I think is Lexi Thompson. Tennis has many more examples. People don’t realize (fans and athletes alike) how draining it is to share your life. Young people also have this concept of criticism = hate = self worth. Last year singer Billie Eilish won armfuls of grammys, performed at the Oscars and while accepting another award (In the space of a month) said she felt hated recently. The younger players don’t have the mental fortitude or will to be dominant. Inbee and Yani may be the most recent last examples of what dominance and superstardom can be. It’s hard to believe the last few years winning 3 events is considered a good season, crazy to think that Annika got into the double digits with wins in a season and Lorena and Yani had seasons with 6-8 wins. Being the best is taxing as can be seen from Yani going from dominance to oblivion. In her interview on Feherty, Laura Davies said that for the players of her era, playing professionally was about being paid. Nowadays if you look good, have a decent social media presence and have ok results you can make thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands and that is enough for a lot of people.
